1st Look: Week 9 Quarterback Ranks

Posted by in 1st Look,Fantasy Advice,Quarterbacks,Rank on Nov 1st 2011 and last modified on Nov 2nd 2011. (Print This)

Brees didn't perform as expected in last weeks upset special.  The match up was perfect and the Saints offense was rolling.  It just drives home the fact that anything can happen any given week.  I expect a nice bounce back performance for Brees against Tampa.  He's the type of player that responds well after having a serving of humble pie.  I have Eli ranked #3 this week, and I wanted to put him higher.  The Patriots secondary has been horrible and the Giants passing offense is better than most think.  Vick had a very good showing against the Cowboys on Sunday night.  The Eagles offense could be extremely explosive in the second half of the season. Matt Ryan has a very favorable match up against a poor Colts defense.  R.White and J.Jones should be healthy and ready to... read more

Week 8 QB Ranks

Posted by in Fantasy Advice on Oct 29th 2011 (Print This)

Week 8 marks the half way point of the season.  As expected we are starting to see significant separation between the quarterback tiers.  It all depends on your scoring format, but the first tier quarterbacks are averaging roughly 10-15 more points per game than the second tier.  We can expect this trend to continue going forward.  Speaking of the first tier quarterbacks; Drew Brees should put on a clinic vs. the lowly Rams... Super Rookie Cam Newton will take some shots from Jared Allen and the rest of the Vikings pass rush, but they rank 29th against the pass.  Expect Newton to have another solid all around outing...  I'm never worried about Tom Brady and the Patriots offense, but a week off can sometimes disrupt an offenses rhythm.  It will be important for Brady to have some early success to help him... read more

Brees went off Sunday night throwing for 325 yards and 5 TDs.  What I found impressive was his 88% completion percentage.  He might not throw 5 touch downs against the Rams, but we can expect a 30 point outing.   Newton comes in at #2 this week.  The Vikings pass rush will get to him, but they rank 29th against the pass.  Expect another solid outing for the rookie.   I really like Roethlisberger this week.  My only concern is the Patriots are coming off a bye, and two weeks to prepare usually stacks the chips in Belichicks favor. Stafford is banged up and coming off his worst outing of the season.  It's the first time he failed to reach the 200 yard mark.  The Lions have a nice match up vs the Broncos, but I wonder how effective he... read more

Fantasy Football Brother's looks at the Week 7 Rankings for the Quarterback position. Like we said earlier the position is in a state of flux with all the new starter's across the league. While we think it's crazy that the Raider's are probably going to start Carson Palmer, let's remember that he is a better option than Kyle Boller for the Silver and Black. We also mentioned in First Look that Tim Tebow makes his much anticipated start for the Denver Broncos. I'm sure all of Florida and most of America will be tuning in to see how he does. It should be interesting. We here at FFB wish him the best! Remember it's bye weeks for the following quarterbacks, so if you have them, and you haven't adjusted your roster accordingly, please do so: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Andy Dalton, Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Michael... read more

(1ST LOOK is available only to Brotherhood All-Access Members.) Every Tuesday the Brotherhood takes a 1ST Look at this weeks upcoming ranks. Even though these ranks are not set in stone it is always good idea to start planning ahead.  On Friday we will post our our final ranks for Week 7. The quarterback position is in a state of flux right now in the NFL. There hasn't been this much turnover since the days that Steve Slaton and Ahman Green were full time backs in the NFL. Carson Palmer out of retirement to the Raiders? Kyle Boller keeping his seat warm in the meantime? Christian Ponder in for the Vikings? John Beck in for the Redskins? Matt Moore sucking it up for the Dolphins? Tim Tebow in for the Broncos? We are secretly rooting for Tebow to succeed in the NFL...though I guess it's no secret since I... read more

Fantasy Football Brothers rolls out Part 2 of our Sleepers & Busts. A sleeper pick isn't always a guy that you have never heard of. Sometimes there are players that are getting drafted much later than when they should. It always comes back to value with us. The same goes for the busts. They are not necessarily going to bomb or have a completely awful season. These guys have expectations that do not line up with their actual production or they are being drafted way too high. Miami Sleeper Davone Bess - MIA - WR Bess has quietly produced back to back solid seasons for the Dolphins. He caught 79 balls last year and 76 in '09. He's going in the 14th round (14.02) in 12 team leagues. That's great value for a solid WR3. Value Reggie Bush - MIA - RB I'm not a fan, in... read more

Team by Team Sleepers & Busts: Part 1

This is part one of my two part installment of a Team by Team Sleepers & Busts.  I don't know about you, but I love to read everything I can on sleepers and busts.  It's often the first thing I flip to when I'm browsing through a fantasy magazine at CVS, and it's the first thing I'll scroll to when perusing a site. I love seeing who the "experts" dub as "sleepers and busts".  I get it.  Who doesn't want to be the first person to take a chance on a late round flier and have him pan out?  If you took Brandon Lloyd in the 16th round last season, you know what I'm talking about.  It's often these late round steals that can put your team over the top. It's the reason why I go Team by Team trying to... read more

2011 Draft Kit QB Ranks & Write Ups

Posted by in Fantasy Advice,Projections,Quarterbacks,Rank,Ranks on Aug 26th 2011 and last modified on Sep 3rd 2011. (Print This)

Fantasy Football Brothers begins our Free Draft Kit roll out. We know we have released our draft kit a little later than previous years and there is a reason for that. Due to the lockout and free agency frenzy we decided to wait and see how it all shook out. We know everyone's time is limited so why make our readers read a bunch of different versions of our draft kit and waste your time. Or do what we did and wait ten days after the dust has settled a little bit and give you the reader a much more informed look at fantasy nation. The NFL is a quarterback driven league.  Over the years the game has evolved and transformed from a run heavy game to a pass heavy game. The NFL is also more passer friendly than ever... read more

Fantasy Football Brother's puts a wrap on the season as we release our Week 17 Quarterback Rankings. As we have said before, if you play in a league where the fantasy championships are determined in Week 17, it's time for a change. Take a look at the rankings and see the names of some of these quarterbacks that are starting, it's ugly. On top of that certain players slip in the rankings because they probably won't play the whole game (Tom Brady) in games that really mean nothing. Week 17: Quarterback Rankings 1) Aaron Rodgers - GRE - QB, vs. Chicago Bears, Sun 1:00 PM 2) Philip Rivers - SDC - QB, at Denver Broncos, Sun 4:15 PM 3) Peyton Manning - IND - QB, vs. Tennessee Titans, Sun 1:00 PM 4) Drew Brees - NOR - QB, vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Sun 1:00 PM 5) Matt Schaub - HOU - QB,... read more

Week 16: QB Ranks

Posted by in Quarterbacks on Dec 25th 2010 (Print This)

Week 16 finds us deep in a whirlwind of football and holiday cheer.  All the excitement going on is almost to much to take all at once.  We should have asked Santa to postpone Christmas a week, just so we can focus on football.  I'm opening my gifts and all I can think about is Jon Kitna!  Will he play good enough to win me a title?  I'm hopeful he will.  And hopefully the rest of you have been good boys and girls and are playing for a fantasy title or two.  The excitement and anticipation leading up to a championship game is almost as nerve racking as waiting at the top of your stairs on Christmas morning.  Just sitting there waiting for the go ahead to run down and rip open your presents.  It didn't matter if I had to run over my sisters,... read more
