Week 11: Injuries

Posted by in 1st Look,Injuries on Nov 16th 2010 (Print This)

Every week Fantasy Football Brother's takes a look at injuries throughout the NFL and how they might impact your fantasy team. Week 10 had its' fair share of injuries (Dolphin QB's) and some have been lingering for quite some time (Ryan Torain and Malcom Floyd). While it's important to keep tab's on some of these player's, it's more important to know the impact of the player's that will step in and take their spot. Does Tyler Thigpen become fantasy worthy? With all the quarterback injuries you could do worse. If anyone remembers he was actually decent in Kansas City in 2008. If Antonio Gates misses more time is Randy McMichael a good pickup? My fear is that Gates is gone for the season. That is a pretty major injury, one that takes plenty of time and rest to fully heal. I would think that McMichael... read more

Week 10 marks the final week of the dreaded byes.  Although it's the last bye week, it's the first that will see three top quarterbacks all being off at the same time.  Some owners will head into Sunday without Brees, Rodgers or Rivers.  It would be a good week to play these teams but most owners probably used your leagues waiver wire to pick up guys like Garrard, Freeman, Hill and Fitzpatrick.  All four will make better than solid replacements this weekend. Now this is tough for me to say because I'm a dog lover, but how good does Michael Vick look?  Is it me, or does post jail Vick, look a lot better than pre jail Vick?  During Sunday's game I kept asking myself, how are the Colts going to stop him?  He drops back 12-15 yards then simply flicks... read more

Fantasy Football Brother's heads into Week 10 and this is a tough bye week for many fantasy owner's as three elite quarterbacks are on byes this week. Fantasy owner's will be missing Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, and Philip Rivers this week. OUCH! That's not even mentioning the wideouts that go along with these quarterbacks such as Greg Jennings, Marques Colston, Lance Moore, any fill in the blank Charger wide receiver. DOUBLE OUCH! This week also marks the beginning of Thursday Night Football, which forces owner's to make tough decisions as to whether or not to start a player that is a little banged up. Roddy White owner's know what I'm talking about. The Player Projections for the Thursday Night Game are up in a different article. The Eight Ball will be updated after game time. This is the... read more

1ST LOOK: Week 4 Injury Report

Posted by in Fantasy Advice on Sep 28th 2009 and last modified on Sep 29th 2009. (Print This)

With another Sunday behind us several more key players managed to find themselves on the injury report.  This is a quick look at yesterday's injuries and what we can expect going forward. 1) Frank Gore - SFO - RB Gore left Sunday's game after only one carry. Early reports are that he suffered a strained ankle ligament. The injury is serious enough to keep Gore out for a couple of weeks. Glenn Coffee will start in Gore's place and should be owned in all leagues. 2) Brian Westbrook - PHI - RB Westbrook wasn't active against the Chiefs on Sunday. After aggravating his surgically repaired ankle Westbrook sat out practice all week and was considered questionable. This is nothing new to Westbrook owners. The Eagle's are on there bye this week so Westbrook has extra time to rest his swollen ankle. Word out of Philly is that even when he is healthy he will split... read more

1) Drew Brees - NOR - QB Brees continues to produce at a record breaking pace. He has already thrown for 696 yards and 9 touchdowns. The Saints travel to Buffalo to take a on a Bills team that has struggled against the pass. The only thing that can stop Brees is the weather. With a 50% chance of rain, Brees could be held to under 300 yards passing. 2) Peyton Manning - IND - QB Manning was flat out awesome against the Dolphins. In just 15 minutes he managed to throw for 303 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Monday night win. Manning should be able to exploit an Arizona secondary that has been susceptible against the pass. 3) Philip Rivers - SDC - QB Rivers was 25-45 for a whopping 436 yards with 2 TD's and 2 interceptions in a loss to the Ravens. The... read more

Fantasy Football Brothers takes our 1ST Look at the QB ranks. QB Matt Hasselbeck moved all the way to the bottom until his injury status gets updated, though Seneca Wallace kills most of the value the Seahawks WR's have. Two of the  Top 10 rated QB's faceoff this week with a homecoming for the Boston College Alum Matt Ryan. Ryan returns to Boston to face Brady and the Pats. The Pats will look to get Brady back on track after an obviously frustrating game against the Jets. The Pats will look to get the kinks out of the offense against the Falcons. Atlanta has looked pretty decent so far especially through the air. Matt Ryan has picked up the slack as RB Michael Turner has struggled to get going early in this season. 1) Drew Brees - NOR - QB 2) Tom Brady - NEP - QB 3) Peyton Manning - IND -... read more

1) Drew Brees - NOR - QB Brees looked very sharp to open the season. He shredded the Lions to the tune of 358 yards and 6 TD's. He faces a much better secondary this week in the Eagles so keep your expectations in check. Regardless of the opponent Brees will put up very good numbers. 2) Tom Brady - NEP - QB Brady threw 53 times for 378 yards and 2 TD's in a wild Monday night comeback win over the Bills. This week the Pats travel to New York to face a very good Jets defense. Brady looked off at times in the first half but managed to pull it all together when it mattered most. Expect the Jets to come at him with everything they can. 3) Peyton Manning - IND - QB Manning showed why he has the nick name Mr. Consistent. In the... read more

Not all champions are born, some get made. The waiver wire is the place where the smart proactive fantasy owner's can uncover hidden gems. Every year a couple of guys go undrafted only to emerge as the season progresses to lead fantasy team's to their league's title. Steve Slaton did it last year and Ryan Grant the year before him. It happens every year and will certainly happen again this year. Each week we will release a list of players who have significant fantasy value but are not owned in most leagues. These guy's can be picked up off your leagues waiver wire and either plugged into your starting lineup or used to provide your team with depth. Depending on your league size and scoring format some of these players will hold more value than others. Some of the players mentioned will have no significant fantasy value in smaller leagues,... read more

1) Drew Brees - NOR - QB Brees and the boys should have a field day against the Lions. With Pierre Thomas questionable for the game, the Saints will look to throw early and often. Start all your Saints including backup running back Mike Bell. 2) Tom Brady - NEP - QB Brady and the Patriots on Monday night football! Brady and Belichick have been on local radio stations saying that his shoulder is fine. I hope they're right. The Bills have looked bad this pre season and the Patriots should have no problem moving the ball. Wide receiver Wes Welker hasn't practiced very much and there is some concern that he might not go. Regardless of Welker's status, Brady to Moss will be in full force. 3) Peyton Manning - IND - QB We have received several question regarding the lack of production from the Colts offense... read more

The final week of the pre-season is upon us.  The fourth week is usually a backup festival that probably wont reveal anything we don't already know.  So I decided to take a longer look at week three.  The third week of the pre-season is the most important.  With most of the starting roster spots already solidified teams use the third game to play starters the longest to gauge there progress.  The players use the third week to get into shape and get acclimated with the contact and speed of the game.   It is also a chance for young guys to climb the depth chart in hopes of seeing playing time when the games count.  The fourth game of the pre-season is for fringe players to try and make a name for themselves and earn a roster spot.  The guys on this list are players who have either raised questions or... read more
