Week 11: Injuries

Posted by in 1st Look,Injuries on Nov 16th 2010 (Print This)

Every week Fantasy Football Brother's takes a look at injuries throughout the NFL and how they might impact your fantasy team. Week 10 had its' fair share of injuries (Dolphin QB's) and some have been lingering for quite some time (Ryan Torain and Malcom Floyd). While it's important to keep tab's on some of these player's, it's more important to know the impact of the player's that will step in and take their spot. Does Tyler Thigpen become fantasy worthy? With all the quarterback injuries you could do worse. If anyone remembers he was actually decent in Kansas City in 2008. If Antonio Gates misses more time is Randy McMichael a good pickup? My fear is that Gates is gone for the season. That is a pretty major injury, one that takes plenty of time and rest to fully heal. I would think that McMichael... read more

Week 10 marks the final week of the dreaded byes.  Although it's the last bye week, it's the first that will see three top quarterbacks all being off at the same time.  Some owners will head into Sunday without Brees, Rodgers or Rivers.  It would be a good week to play these teams but most owners probably used your leagues waiver wire to pick up guys like Garrard, Freeman, Hill and Fitzpatrick.  All four will make better than solid replacements this weekend. Now this is tough for me to say because I'm a dog lover, but how good does Michael Vick look?  Is it me, or does post jail Vick, look a lot better than pre jail Vick?  During Sunday's game I kept asking myself, how are the Colts going to stop him?  He drops back 12-15 yards then simply flicks... read more

Fantasy Football Brother's heads into Week 10 and this is a tough bye week for many fantasy owner's as three elite quarterbacks are on byes this week. Fantasy owner's will be missing Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, and Philip Rivers this week. OUCH! That's not even mentioning the wideouts that go along with these quarterbacks such as Greg Jennings, Marques Colston, Lance Moore, any fill in the blank Charger wide receiver. DOUBLE OUCH! This week also marks the beginning of Thursday Night Football, which forces owner's to make tough decisions as to whether or not to start a player that is a little banged up. Roddy White owner's know what I'm talking about. The Player Projections for the Thursday Night Game are up in a different article. The Eight Ball will be updated after game time. This is the... read more

Ladies & Gentlemen: Start your engines!

This is the first time that I have Eli and Peyton ranked #1 & 2 in my weekly rankings.  We know what we're getting out of Peyton, but I feel Eli has emerged as a top 5 fantasy passer going forward.  The Giants are absolutlely loaded on offense and Eli should post solid numbers on a weekly basis.         1) Peyton Manning - IND - QB, vs. Cincinnati Bengals, Sun 1:00 PM 2) Eli Manning - NYG - QB, vs. Dallas Cowboys, Sun 4:15 PM 3) Michael Vick - PHI - QB, at Washington Redskins, Mon 8:30 PM 4) Kyle Orton - DEN - QB, vs. Kansas City Chiefs, Sun 4:05 PM 5) Ben Roethlisberger - PIT - QB, vs. New England Patriots, Sun 8:20 PM 6) Tom Brady - NEP - QB, at Pittsburgh Steelers, Sun 8:20 PM 7) Josh Freeman - TAM - QB, vs. Carolina Panthers, Sun 1:00 PM 8)... read more

Look for Rodgers to bounce back in a big way against the Bills

This weeks headline features the much anticipated return of Michael Vick.  After a ridiculously hot start, Vick missed the last four weeks after suffering a chest injury in week 4 against the Redskins.  Since then, most fantasy owners have been treading water and waiting patiently for his return.  There should be know quarterback controversy after Kolb had a mediocre outing in their week 7 loss to the Titans.  The job is simply, Vick's to loose.  He should be in most owners starting line ups this weekend, but I wouldn't expect to much to soon.  He might be a little hesitant to take off and run like he did before the injury.  That could hurt his overall numbers as he attempts to get his feet under him.  He's a solid play this weekend but I would give him... read more

Week 9: Player Projections

Fantasy Football Brother's continues our march towards the fantasy playoffs. The season is in full swing and we aren't any closer to having an answer who the top teams in the NFL are. Last week yielded no helpful hints, as the Dallas Cowboys continue their slide and aren't even worthy of being called America's team. Wade Phillips days are numbered as the Cowboys are getting flushed down the proverbial toilet of the NFC East. They were manhandled by the Jacksonville Jaguars and David Garrard in Week 8. The Detroit Lions showed that they are headed in the right direction as a franchise against the now embroiled Donovan McNabb who was yanked in favor of Rex Grossman to run the two minute drill because McNabb is out of shape. Mike Shanahan has brought this on himself and attracted unwanted attention by making a dumb... read more

How bad does the Randy Moss release hurt the Vikings going forward?  I know Moss wasn't great statistically, but defenses always game planned around him.  With Moss gone that attention will be put back on Percy Harvin and Adrian Peterson.  Their production will suffer on a weekly basis because of this.  Favre goes from being a QB2 with upside to a low end QB2.  He's not even worth a roster spot in 8 or 10 team leagues.  If you think I'm over reacting about what type of presence Moss has on an offense, take a look at the Patriots.  Sure they're winning games, but Welker and Brady haven't posted anywhere near the same numbers since Moss left town.  Outside of Peyton Manning, I don't completely trust any other quarterback on a weekly basis.  Hopefully this changes going forward.  If we held our fantasy drafts today, would Rivers be the... read more

Some owners have been scrambling all week trying to find an adequate starting quarterback for Sunday.  It was probably a little more difficult than some might have thought.  Due to the first six team bye week, we will be without Eli Manning, Joe Flacco, Matt Ryan, Jay Cutler and the Vick/Kolb combination.  All solid weekly starters and that's before we take into account the Tony Romo injury.  Most leagues waiver wire probably had owners fighting over players like Matt Stafford, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Josh Freeman and in some cases Matt Moore. Needless to say some fantasy teams could be in a little bit of trouble this weekend.  All four players could provide you with a solid performances but there's a greater chance that at least two and maybe even three will cost you a win.  It's a tough pill... read more

Week 8: Player Projections

The Week 8 Player Projections are here! I know they're late and I was reminded of that by our esteemed leader Bill Sherman. The truth lies somewhere in between that I lost data due to operator error (Thanks Eric) and the fact that I have been wrapped up in college football lately. My sincere apologies. Fantasy Football Brother's rolls on and as we take a look at the Week 8 Player Projections there are some noticeable names missing due to injury. Here's looking at you Dallas Clark, Joseph Addai, Malcom Floyd and Tony Romo (who according to Roy Williams, Jon Kitna is just as good as Romo) We'll see about that. Week 7 brought us more parity, though we can just call it a competitive balance. What has happened to the New Orleans Saints? They got manhandled by Cleveland last week, maybe Eric Mangini read Bill's... read more

Week 8 could prove to be a tough one for fantasy owners.  Teams will already be without Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, Kevin Kolb, MichaelVick  and Jay Cutler due to the bye week.  Tony Romo could be lost for eight weeks or longer (sorry Rob) and Favre is dealing with multiple fractures in his ankle, and could miss Sundays tilt with the Patriots.  Speaking of the Patriots.  How bad did Tom Brady and the offense look on Sunday?  They need to play much better than that if Brady is going to help you win a title. I know Orton is a top 3 fantasy quarterback, but do the Broncos hand the reins over to Tim Tebow if the team keeps losing?  Owners need to ask themselves, do I Sell high or ride it out?  The Broncos will be playing in London this weekend and need... read more
