Updated WR Ranks and Writeups

1) Andre Johnson - HOU - WR He's caught over 100 passes in three out of the past four years. He's had back-to-back 1,500 yard seasons. He's averaged over 97 yards per game over the past three years and has averaged 7 catches per game over the past two. QB Matt Schaub is rising in the ranks. With the return of TE Owen Daniels and the anticipated emergence of WR Jacoby Jones, Johnson could find himself with his best supporting cast yet. The run game was non existent in 09, but look for second year man RB Arian Foster to provide the offense with better balance. Johnson will once again cross the century mark in catches and should post double-digit scores. He's the definitive No. 1. No contest!   2) Randy Moss - NEP - WR Moss... read more

TOP 240: Kickers & Defenses Not Included

Posted by Paul in Rank,Ranks,Top 200 on Aug 26th 2010 and last modified on Sep 2nd 2010. (Print This)

A top 200 ranking is an essential tool that every fantasy owner should use to help dominate their draft.  It helps owners gauge a players overall value instead of his positional value.  As usual, we went a little bit deeper and ranked the top 240 players.  We feel it was important to rank every player that could become relevant at some point during the season.  I left out defenses and kickers because my colleague Rob has already covered them extensively in his positional write ups.  We will continue to update these rankings as the season approaches. Top 240 1) Chris Johnson - TEN - RB 2) Adrian Peterson - MIN - RB 3) Maurice Jones-Drew - JAC - RB 4) Ray Rice - BAL - RB 5) Frank Gore - SFO - RB 6) Andre Johnson - HOU - WR 7) Aaron Rodgers - GRE - QB 8) Michael Turner - ATL - RB 9) Drew Brees - NOR -... read more

Draft time is here! It's what we've been preparing for all off-season. Your other responsibilities and obligations take a back seat as you begin to set your sites on a fantasy title. Pre-Season Week 3 often reveals the most, but some of us have our drafts this weekend. Much has happened to the wide-out pool: Sidney Rice could miss half the season. Vincent Jackson is still waiting to be traded. Percy Harvin's continued struggle with Migraines is concerning. Dez appears ready to get back on the playing field, while Chaz Schilens finds himself side-lined once again. Who's stalk is rising? We like Jabar Gaffney, Malcom Floyd and Johnny Knox. Josh Cribbs has played more of a role in Cleveland's passing game than most expected. Wes Welker has proven to be an incredible healer. Larry Fitzgerald cringed as he watched his starting quarterback... read more

The NFL has developed into a pass-happy league. With the playbooks opening up, and the offenses spreading out, Wide Receivers have leap-frogged running backs as the staple of fantasy success. The elite top runners kick off the first round in most formats (Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Ray Rice, and Frank Gore), but past that, WRs have infiltrated the bottom half of the first round and dominate the second. Recent ADP (Average Draft Position) trends have Andre Johnson, Randy Moss and Reggie Wayne as first rounders in standard scoring/12 team formats. 6 out of 12 second round spots are going to pass-catchers. That's more than any other position.  We’ll continue to keep an eye on the injuries. Jeremy Maclin, DeSean Jackson and Hakeem Nicks enter 2010 with high expectations. None of their camp ailments appear serious. We’re not worried... read more

Fantasy Football Brothers continues to roll out our free draft kit. This week we take a closer look  at the Wide Receiver position. Here at H.Q. we have been seeing a ton of questions regarding wide receivers especially in keeper/dynasty leagues. The wide receiver pool dries up very quickly this year and if you have a solid wide out on your dynasty/keeper team it would be wise to think about protecting him, especially for those that play in three receiver leagues. A wide receiver ages like a  fine wine. There is no rule or theory outside of the third year receiver theory, which many will have you believe is a fact. It's a campfire tale at best. Receiver's take time to develop because the NFL is a complex game that uses complex offensive schemes that face complex defenses constantly disguising its looks. Wide receivers can also be held... read more

2010 July WR Ranks

The Brotherhood continues to preach that Fantasy titles are won with a strong WR corps. Andre Johnson is the definitive Number One, but the rest of the top 10 is up for grabs. In a deep league? Here's 100-plus pass-catching options heading into the 2010 season. 1) Andre Johnson - HOU - WR Stands alone at the top. The definitive No. 1. 2) Miles Austin - DAL - WR The Dallas offense should be as explosive as ever. From 09 sleeper to top 5 prospect. A full season as the starter should reward fantasy owners with elite stats. 3) .Brandon Marshall - MIA - WR Marshall could very well win the reception title and turn Miami away from their wild-cat ways. 4) Randy Moss - NEP - WR Welker may start the season on the PUP list. Brady's in a contract year. Moss will... read more

Nightmare vs. Dream Scenarios

Posted by Rob in Fantasy Advice on Jun 17th 2010 and last modified on Jun 27th 2010. (Print This)

The NFL Draft was full of surprises and full of Tim Tebow's family. It is sad to say that the new time slot was a hit, so I don't think they will be going back to the old format anytime soon. This was one of the deepest drafts in recent memory and you had players being taken off the board in Round 7 that could be classified as "impact" type players. Many notable players even went undrafted, only to be signed after the draft. That is a different article for a different day, but this article has to do with situations the drafted players found themselves in come draft day and how it affects you in future drafts. So take notice, because the 'Hood is Back, better than ever. Nightmare Scenarios Quarterbacks QB-Sam Bradford-St. Louis Rams-Bradford was the first pick overall. That comes with a warning since number one picks usually go to a lousy... read more
