1ST LOOK: Week 3 WR Ranks

Faith RewardedWEEK 2 STUDS: Jeremy Maclin:  13 receptions, 171 receiving yards, 2 TDs. We advertised Maclin as a more complete receiver than DeSean Jackson. On Sunday night - he made that quite evident. Maclin carried much concern come draft day, but should repay those who overlooked the risk. Illness will not deprive you of talent. He’ll be a stud moving forward. Vincent Jackson: 10 receptions, 172 receiving yards, 2 TDs.  The Patriots completely shut down Antonio Gates and forced Malcom Floyd out of the game with an injury. Jackson picked up the slack posting stellar stats after a Week 1 flop. Opposing defenses will continue to have to pick their poison in terms of which Charger play-maker they attempt to stop. Miles Austin: 9 receptions, 143 receiving yards, 3 TDs. We've seen both Austin and Dez perform incredibly already this season. If this offense can ever get healthy, the sky is the limit. Dez... read more

Week 1 Studs: Steve Smith: 8 receptions,  178 receiving yards, 2 TDs. Steve Smith is the happiest man in all of football. Although the Panthers lost to the Arizona Cardinals Sunday afternoon, Cam Newton displayed poise and potential far above his experience level. Smith and Newton missed time this preseason to get "in sync" but you'd never know watching this game. We've watched Newton's film over and over again and we were incredibly impressed with his ball placement and arm strength. Smith is as shifty as they come. He makes up for any size/stature deficits with power and passion. It's been a while since we've seen Smitty look so sharp. We know it's early, and next week's match-up vs. Green Bay will be a tough one, but things are looking up for owners who took a flier on Newton and Smith. Kenny Britt: 5 receptions,... read more

With the quarterback, running back, and tight end positions appearing deeper than ever, landing an elite wide receiver is essential. There is a clear-cut Top 8, but then the questions start flying. If you find yourself quivering over selecting a questionable running back in the middle to late first round, a stud wide-out may be the way to go. With a youth movement at the quarterback position, and the tight end pool deepening - solid prospects are falling to the later rounds. Running back has become the easiest position in all of fantasy to fill. Stud pass-catchers are an endangered species. Be sure to draft one before they're extinct. Calvin, Fitz, and VJack are on the rise. Jennings and Wayne on the fall. 2011 Draft Kit WR Ranks & Write Ups

1) Andre Johnson - HOU - WR No surprises here. Johnson deserves the No. 1 spot. Owners may opt for Roddy White or Calvin Johnson with A.J. coming off of an injury riddled season, but Johnson combines the physical tools of Megatron, with the consistency of White. Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones have failed to provide Johnson with a legitimate wing-man, but the return of Owen Daniels and Houston’s ground game should diffuse defensive attention. We expect a clean bill of health and one of his most dominating seasons to date. If you find yourself hesitating over a running back in the mid to late slots in round 1, Johnson is a low-risk/high-reward pick. Draft him without concern. 2) Roddy White - ATL - WR: It’s hard to rank anyone... read more

Fantasy Playoff Draft Kit: WR RANKS

The NFL playoffs kick off this weekend giving potential fantasy playoff owners only a short time to draft and organize their teams.  To help make your lives easier we ranked every player who could become relevant at some point during the playoffs.  Like the other positions, the wide receivers are ranked based on the projected number of games played.  For instance, we're assuming the Eagles and Patriots face off in the Super Bowl giving players like Welker, Branch and Maclin more value.  I'm a huge Greg Jennings fan, but if the Packers go one and done, he won't be able to help me much. 1) Roddy White - ATL - WR 2) Wes Welker - NEP - WR 3) Jeremy Maclin - PHI - WR 4) Mike Wallace - PIT - WR 5) Deion Branch - NEP - WR 6) Reggie... read more

Week 17 WR Ranks

Week 17 Super Bowls pose many problems. There will be few rosters that  are at 100%. With some team's playoff paths already determined, certain studs may see the sidelines. Fear not, for there is always a silver lining. True, Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson may fail to produce, but the door is open for Jason Avant to see more snaps. Other intriguing names include Jerome Simpson, Andre Caldwell, Michael Crabtree, Danario Alexander, Blair White and Jason Hill. If Andre Johnson can't go, look for Jacoby Jones to step up once again. Reggie Wayne tops the list as Indy has been playing playoff games for weeks now. Expect Mario Manningham to produce with both Steve Smith and Hakeem Nicks on the sidelines. The Giants still have a shot at the playoffs. Manningham will be their best aerial weapon. 1) Reggie Wayne - IND - WR, vs. Tennessee Titans,... read more

Week 16: Wide Receiver Rankings

Vincent Jackson and Kenny Britt sky-rocket right into the Top-10. Owners will be rewarded for their patience. Brandon Marshall has disappointed all season. The Miami offense simply never got going.  He's coming off of one of his best games of the season and has a very favorable match-up vs. the Lions. Brandon Lloyd and Santana Moss did not struggle as expected with Tim Tebow and Rex Grossman playing the reliever roles. Santana should once again produce vs. the Jags. Lloyd has the talent and match-up to off set Tebow's lack of experience. He's still a risky play, but Houston should provide plenty of opportunities. With Steve Smith and Austin Collie's seasons being over, Mario Manningham and Pierre Garcon are in a position to put solid WR2 numbers. DeSean Jackson's play-making ability has taken away from how great of... read more

Wide Receiver value is being drastically effected by the injuries and inefficiencies at the quarterback position. With Matt Cassel in question, Dwayne Bowe becomes a shaky play  vs. the Rams. Without Cassel under-center, expect the Chiefs to grind it out on the ground. Kyle Orton looks to be a scratch vs. the Raiders. He's been the worst QB in football over the past two weeks. Brandon Lloyd, Eddie Royal and Jabar Gaffney remain risky starts. Tampa's secondary is vulnerable. If Shaun Hill is able to start, it'll bode well for Megatron. Wes Welker jumps into the Top-10 for the first time in months. He's adjusted well to the change in offensive scheme. Brady peppers around his targets, but Welker's production will remain consistent. Greg Jennings, James Jones and Donald Driver... read more

Week 14: WR Ranks & Write Ups (Fantasy Playoff Edition)

We love Greg Jennings this week. Detroit will have no answer for the stud WR. James Starks should provide the team with decent balance. If he becomes effective between the tackles, opposing safeties will be forced to pick their poison. The Top-10 is stacked with favorable match-ups. We expect both DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin to have solid outings vs. the Cowboys. True, Big D's Defense has improved, but they'll be no match for the speed of Mike Vick and company. Don't be surprised if Maclin out-produces his teammate. Boldin is coming off his best outing in weeks. With the Texan's dead awful defense on tap, expect continued success. Todd Heap's absence will force Flacco to be more heavily reliant on his stud. Tampa's Mike... read more

Week 13 WR Ranks & Write Ups

Posted by in Ranks,Wide Receivers on Dec 3rd 2010 and last modified on Dec 4th 2010. (Print This)

For many, this is the final game of the regular season. Playoff spots are on the line. Here we go! Sneaky Plays: Derrick Mason: Mason has been Flacco's go-t0-guy since the bye week. He's scored in three out of the last four games. He's aging but continues to prove he's got some solid games still under his belt. As Boldin draws opposing defense's superior corners, Mason has been able to take advantage on the opposite side. Eddie Royal: Royal opened the year hot, but then vanished from fantasy relevance. He's coming off his best performance in weeks and looks to be fully healthy after some minor nagging injuries. He gets a bump in return formats. Donario Alexander: Alexander needs to see an increase in snaps, but expect him to make the best of whatever action he sees. He's given us... read more
