Draft time is here! It's what we've been preparing for all off-season. Your other responsibilities and obligations take a back seat as you begin to set your sites on a fantasy title. Pre-Season Week 3 often reveals the most, but some of us have our drafts this weekend. Much has happened to the wide-out pool: Sidney Rice could miss half the season. Vincent Jackson is still waiting to be traded. Percy Harvin's continued struggle with Migraines is concerning. Dez appears ready to get back on the playing field, while Chaz Schilens finds himself side-lined once again. Who's stalk is rising? We like Jabar Gaffney, Malcom Floyd and Johnny Knox. Josh Cribbs has played more of a role in Cleveland's passing game than most expected. Wes Welker has proven to be an incredible healer. Larry Fitzgerald cringed as he watched his starting quarterback... read more

The NFL has developed into a pass-happy league. With the playbooks opening up, and the offenses spreading out, Wide Receivers have leap-frogged running backs as the staple of fantasy success. The elite top runners kick off the first round in most formats (Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Ray Rice, and Frank Gore), but past that, WRs have infiltrated the bottom half of the first round and dominate the second. Recent ADP (Average Draft Position) trends have Andre Johnson, Randy Moss and Reggie Wayne as first rounders in standard scoring/12 team formats. 6 out of 12 second round spots are going to pass-catchers. That's more than any other position. We’ll continue to keep an eye on the injuries. Jeremy Maclin, DeSean Jackson and Hakeem Nicks enter 2010 with high expectations. None of their camp ailments appear serious. We’re not worried... read more

The college game is in a transition period with its' wide receivers. The talent level took a big hit last season as the NFL Draft sucked up some major junior talent. These rankings are filled with wide outs that will be looking to make a name for themselves on the college level. There are also alot of already productive wide receivers who will have new quarterbacks to break in. One is Ryan Broyles at Oklahoma who will have Landry Jones at quarterback. We expect Broyles to struggle the first part of the season until Jones gets his feet wet in the Big 12. If there is a weak position in college fantasy football, this is it. As I said before the mix of new quarterbacks will contribute, as well as the top juniors leaving for the NFL Draft early. New players will be thrust into starting jobs... read more

Fantasy Football Brothers continues to roll out our free draft kit. This week we take a closer look at the Wide Receiver position. Here at H.Q. we have been seeing a ton of questions regarding wide receivers especially in keeper/dynasty leagues. The wide receiver pool dries up very quickly this year and if you have a solid wide out on your dynasty/keeper team it would be wise to think about protecting him, especially for those that play in three receiver leagues. A wide receiver ages like a fine wine. There is no rule or theory outside of the third year receiver theory, which many will have you believe is a fact. It's a campfire tale at best. Receiver's take time to develop because the NFL is a complex game that uses complex offensive schemes that face complex defenses constantly disguising its looks. Wide receivers can also be held... read more

The Brotherhood continues to preach that Fantasy titles are won with a strong WR corps. Andre Johnson is the definitive Number One, but the rest of the top 10 is up for grabs. In a deep league? Here's 100-plus pass-catching options heading into the 2010 season. 1) Andre Johnson - HOU - WR Stands alone at the top. The definitive No. 1. 2) Miles Austin - DAL - WR The Dallas offense should be as explosive as ever. From 09 sleeper to top 5 prospect. A full season as the starter should reward fantasy owners with elite stats. 3) .Brandon Marshall - MIA - WR Marshall could very well win the reception title and turn Miami away from their wild-cat ways. 4) Randy Moss - NEP - WR Welker may start the season on the PUP list. Brady's in a contract year. Moss will... read more

Fantasy sophistication comes with seniority. Each year you play, you further your knowledge, lengthen your preparation and embrace your addiction. The combinations of scoring formats and roster formations allow endless opportunities. From snake drafts to auction leagues, team defenses to IDP's, fixed line-ups to flex plays. More and more leagues are rewarding for special teams play. Finding players who are not only return men, but have locked down starting jobs are high-end commodities in such formats. Heading into the 2010 season there are plenty of alluring targets that fit the bill. Average yardage on kick returns is significantly higher than punts. If you're caught between one or the other, the kick-returner is the way to go. Finding a player that returns both, and also starts on offense is... read more

51-75 could all rotate spots before the opening of the season. This group consists mainly of team's deep WR2/WR3 prospects. Rookies to climb ranks by season's start?Golden Tate and Arrelious Benn will both hit the field immediately. Tate is in the better situation for he won't enter as Seattle's WR1, easing pressure and allowing him to work against less superior coverage. Housh is aging and has struggles since being in Seattle. Detroit trading to get Nate Burleson opens up plenty of targets to go around. With a re-vamped running game and Matt Hasselbeck looking healthy, Tate could impress in his virgin season. Benn instantly becomes Tampa's go to guy. This bodes well for future fantasy success, but rooks who hop directly into the 1 spot often struggle as the acclimate to the pro game. Fellow rookie Mike Williams may also see starting... read more

Today marks day two of our wide out ranks release. 26-50 consists of some aging vets, promising second year men and two of the top rookies. Mike Martz addition to Chicago is just what the doctor ordered for Jay Cutler and company. Devin Hester looks to benefit the most from his arrival. Hester has already begun lining up at all three receiver positions, but will most likely make his home in the slot. No linebacker or safety will have the speed to stay with the shifty utility man. Martz also wants to get back to Hester's play-making ability on special teams. In return formats Hester could be a beast if he regains his explosion on kick returns. Remember, before Cribbs, there was Hester. Drafting rookie receivers was once thought to be fantasy taboo, but as the... read more

The Brotherhood is Back! Wideouts are the topic of the day. As the Running Back position becomes more and more diluted, fantasy GMs would be wise to realize that championship contenders are built around a solid receiving corp. Today we release the top 25. Tomorrow 26-50, and Sunday 51-75. Randy Moss and Reggie Wayne remain in the Top 10, but their time atop this list is quickly coming to an end. Moss is entering a contract season and the Patriots most likely won't re-sign him. His targets should increase while teammate Wes Welker recovers from season ending ACL injury. Taking his place in the slot will be Julian Edelman, a converted college quarterback out of Kent State. Edelman did his best Welker impersonation last season and will continue to improve if the Patriots are to contend in the... read more

Dynasty leagues are a whole other ball game. You're running an organization for not just the "now", but for the future as well. Fantasy becomes more like reality as GMs are forced to consider outside of the current season. A mix of steady vets, mid-year "primers" and some diaper dandies make for the perfect blend for continued relevance. Buying on the cheap, selling before the crash and seeing production before it happens is all part of fantasy success. Key Wide-Out Questions Heading Into 2010: Who's #1? Although Larry Fitzgerald is two years younger than Andre Johnson, AJ still covets our top rank. Teams were able to keep Fitz's stats in check this season. He was still a top performer, but he did not live up to the unrealistic expectations placed upon him by fantasy nation in 09. Opposing defensive... read more
