Tight Ends Category

During the Draft season we preach to all of our readers - "You can wait to draft a Tight End".  With the exception of Antonio Gates who depending on your league scoring has at least 50 or so more points than any other TightEnd. Having Dallas Clark and Jermichael Finley out of the mix has only further diluted the TE pool this season. In a .5 P.P.R. scoring league there are 12 TEs that are only 17 total points apart in scoring. That ladies and gentlemen is the TE parity that we warned everyone about. Up this week Jacob Tamme and the Colts get the Bengals. Tamme was targeted a ridiculous 17 times last week. If his back allows him to play (Check Out The Week 10 Game Center Tomorrow) he is easily our number one ranked... read more

Week 9 TE Rankings are here, and yet there are a few major questions left unanswered.  Will Gates, and Miller play??   Are their injuries severe enough to warrant a spot on the bench?  Read up, and stay tuned to the Fantasy Brothers Sunday Update for the final Start-em Sit-em answers. 1) Antonio Gates - SDC - TE, at Houston Texans, Sun 1:00 PM Gates is clearly the best TE in the league this year, but his foot and ankle injuries continue to plague him. He hasn't practiced all week, and he is once again listed as questionable. Expect another game-time decision, and if there is even a remote chance of him playing, you should start him! 2) Zach Miller - OAK - TE, vs. Kansas City Chiefs, Sun 4:15 PM Miller is also... read more

Week 8 has some great matchups for Fantasy Guru's to exploit!  There will also be some big question marks.  The biggest question out there is Indy's Jacob Tamme.  Can he become the Dallas Clark type of TE that fantasy owners drool over?  My thought is that it will take some time, and this week will be a struggle.  (Imagine the pressure on him to perform!  Yikes..)  If your looking for a go to guy this week, I think Cooley and Witten have the most potential.  Yes, I know those guys are already on someone else's fantasy team...  So how about Kellen Winslow or Tony Moeaki??  Or if you have the guts to gamble with Peyton Manning as your Ace in the hole try Tamme and prove me wrong! 1) Antonio Gates - SDC - TE, vs. Tennessee Titans, Sun 4:05 PM Gates played injured last... read more

Week 7: TE Ranks & Writeups

Posted by in Ranks,Tight Ends on Oct 21st 2010 and last modified on Oct 23rd 2010. (Print This)

Week 7 is here, and the top Tight Ends are dropping like flies!!   Two of the top 3 TE's have been added to the IR in the last week and a half (Finley and now Dallas Clark) and many others are banged up.  Keep an eye on Antonio Gates this week as he is recovering from a toe injury, and hopefully we can get thru a week of action without losing another fantasy stud! 1) Antonio Gates - SDC - TE, vs. New England Patriots, Sun 4:15 PM Gates is listed as questionable with a toe injury, but we expect him to play on Sunday. With a weak NE secondary, Gates should find himself with quite a few targets once again. 2) Zach Miller - OAK - TE, at Denver Broncos, Sun 4:15 PM Miller continues... read more

Week 6: Tight End Rankings

Week 6 is upon us, and a few owners out there are scrambling to replace Jermichael Finley and his super production thusfar.  Some options have been mentioned below, but I won't make you read them all to find out.  Look for Vernon Davis to continue his comeback, and Dallas Clark to re-emerge this week.  I also see Heath Miller having a big day, as long as Big Ben feels comfortable in the pocket. 1) Antonio Gates - SDC - TE, at St. Louis Rams, Sun 1:00 PM Gates continues to be the Top Dog for TE's in 2010. Start'em with pride! 2) Dallas Clark - IND - TE, at Washington Redskins, Sun 8:20 PM Clark had a rough week last week, and he continues to face double and even triple teams. I expect that with Austin Collie... read more

Some big moves around the NFL this week make for some interesting scenarios.  Will Shaincoe be affected by the Moss trade?  You bet cha...  Just how much will depend on whether Farve becomes the gun slinger (with 3 INT's a game) or the majician (spreading the love keeping all his peeps happy)!   My guess is that he will be slinging..  Stay tuned for MNF!  Anyway, here are the TE ranks for Week 5. 1) Antonio Gates - SDC - TE, at Oakland Raiders, Sun 4:15 PM V-Jack.. Stay home! Gates is the man! Through four games, he leads all TE's in touchdowns with 6TD's (2 in Week 4 alone) and he also leads in total yards with 386!!! That's 4th amoungst all receivers!! Mighty impressive... Look for him to have another nice game this week against a struggling Raiders... read more

Week 4: Tight End Rankings

As the BYE Week scramble continues, we take a closer look at a few Tight End fliers that may still be available on the waiver wire.  John Carlson, Greg Olsen, etc. could add some value this week to your lineup if you have Witten or Shaincoe sitting it out.  The top 10 has also been shuffled up a bit due to some Week 4 matchups and some underperforming players.  Read up and enjoy! 1) Antonio Gates - SDC - TE, vs. Arizona Cardinals, Sun 4:15 PM Gates will remain the go to guy in San Diego this week. Expect the usual 6 cathes for 88yds and 1TD. 2) Jermichael Finley - GRE - TE, vs. Detroit Lions, Sun 1:00 PM Finley has a good matchup this week, and he is still looking for his first TD of the... read more

Week 3 came in a huury!!   As expected, "Superman" and Antonio Gates have led the way so far.  I expect that trend to continue, but be on the lookout for the Rookies!  Aaron Hernandez aka "Double A" may be in for a big week, along with freshman Jermaine Gresham.  Double A should remain a great PPR TE option, especially with the injury to 3rd down specialist RB Kevin Faulk.  Look for Double A to recharge Brady's batteries this week against the Bills.  (Soo Cheesy I know, but I couldn't resist...)   And Gresham will have his fair share of targets with an injured 85 (ocho cinco). WEEK 3 Rankings: 1) Dallas Clark - IND - TE, at Denver Broncos, Sun 4:15 PM D. Clark aka "Superman" continues to dominate the TE's for both receptions and... read more

Week 2: Tight End Rankings

Posted by in Ranks,Tight Ends on Sep 16th 2010 and last modified on Sep 18th 2010. (Print This)

Week 2 is upon us, and the tight end studs have yet to show us the love.  Stick to your guns and start those TE1 players, and we can look at possible busts in a few more weeks.  Remember, it's early, and although Marcedes Lewis had 2 TD's last week, this will not happen every week!  So, without further ado, here are the updated ranks and writeups for Week 2! WEEK 2 Rankings: 1) Dallas Clark - IND - TE, vs. New York Giants, Sun 8:20 PM I expect Manning (Peyton that is..) to use his top gun TE Sunday as Indy looks to rebound from a Week 1 upset. Clark should see 8-10 targets for 75+ yards and a TD this week.   2) Antonio Gates - SDC - TE, vs. Jacksonville Jaguars,... read more

Week 1 Tight End Ranks

Posted by in Ranks,Tight Ends on Sep 8th 2010 and last modified on Sep 9th 2010. (Print This)

1) Antonio Gates - SDC - TE A healthy Gates should produce another great year for fantasy owners in 2010. I expect his targets to increase with V Jack out, and with Mathews unproven in the backfield. 2) Dallas Clark - IND - TE The best offense in football should continue to utilize Clark's cathing abilities. His preseason injury concerns still linger, but we expect him to be healthy and have a solid game against Houston. 3) Jermichael Finley - GRE - TE Finley continues to be a fantasy favorite going into 2010. With Rodgers looking his way, and fresh memories of the end of 2009, we expect J-Fin to start off where he left off. If he can stay healthy, he could easily crack the top 5 this year. 4) Jason Witten - DAL - TE Although he is coming off... read more
