Safe vs. Sexy

THE seX-FACTOR

There are girls that are cute… and then there girls that are sexy. The cute girl you can take home to your Mom. She makes you feel comfortable. She’s non-threatening, a little timid and shy. She’s soft spoken…. Innocent. She’s safe.

Then there’s the sexy girl… Wait she’s not a girl – she’s a woman. She’s the girl you worry about when she goes out on her own. You crave her. She makes you feel incredible, yet uneasy. She’s mysterious. She’s risky. She may not be Mrs. Right, but she’s absolutely incredible – right now! You love and hate the way she drives you crazy, but it’s why keep coming back for more.

Same goes for fantasy football. I’m not saying I’m attracted to anyone in the NFL (other than Tom Brady), but some players have more sex appeal than others. You draft them because they have incredible upside, yet carry some undeniable risk. There is nothing sexy about Peyton Manning or Reggie Wayne. Owners have been married to these guys for years, but there is no more romance in those relationships. The flame has smothered. You need to get out there and venture into different waters… you know – “live a little”. Steven Jackson and Rashard Mendenhall are solid playmakers, but give me Darren McFadden. Give me that hot and cold, love/hate, whirlwind romance that will have you either “happily ever after” or crashing and burning in misery. Isn’t that why we play? (Always remember to put on your helmet before game time - you want TDs, not STDs).

When all is said and done, it’s really about building your fantasy squad like the perfect partner: You want her to be reliable and consistent, yet crazy and risky. One that keeps you on the edge your seat, yet allows you to sleep well at night. She can be cute and wholesome or dirty and dangerous. Safe is sometimes better than sexy, but this year it’s time to live a little dangerously. Here’s the All Sex Appeal Team for 2011:

QB: Michael Vick – PHI
No one carries more sex appeal this season than Mike Vick. Every play could be the most electrifying you’ve ever seen, or he could be injured for the season. – He’ll be a rolleroaster ride that you won’t want to end… or will you?

RB: Darren McFadden – OAK
The Dark Knight has top-5 upside, but warrants worry in the durability department. Sure the first round is filled with safe plays: Michael Turner, Rashard Mendenhall, Steven Jackson, Matt Forte… They’re good and all, but they don’t have the same allure as McFadden.

RB: Felix Jones – DAL
Jones has home-run speed, has displayed improved between-the-tackle running, and can catch the ball – that’s like a girl who can cook, clean, and watch the games on Sunday. Health is a concern, but with Tashard Choice and DeMarco Murray struggling this preseason with hammy injuries, the table is set for Jones to have a monster 2011.

WR:  Calvin Johnson – DET
For Gods’ sake, the guys’ name is Megatron – You can’t get much more sexy than that! If he was able to pull-down 12 TD grabs with Drew Stanton and Shaun Hill, imaging what is possible with a healthy Matt Stafford.

WR: Vincent Jackson – SDC
VJack is oozing with seX-Factor this preseason. We love that he’ll be playing for money in a contract season. His size and stature are completely unmatched. He’s being drafted out of the Top-5 WRs, but could very well finish first.

Sex (I MEAN FLEX):  Dez Bryant – DAL
Dez Bryant is like that girl who just moved to your town. She’s new on the block, has a mysterious past, but there is something about her that makes you want to invest some time. We’d be willing to invest a 4th round pick. He scored 10 all purpose TDs in limited action and gains some allure in return heavy formats.

 TE: Jermichael Finley – GRE
Finley will put up WR #’s this season. Witten and Dallas Clark are so 2010. Finley is the next Antonio Gates.
