NFL Mock Draft 3.0

FFB's #1 Overall Pick!

The post-lockout NFL Draft will start to reward the top players instead of having them fall down the board due to contractual concerns. It’s true, Sam Bradford is officially the last bonus baby and I think it’s a change for the better.

That’s why we have Patrick Peterson as our number one overall pick. He was the best player in college football last season. Peterson was a true game changer at LSU and he will immediately become one in the NFL. We’ve heard all the talk about cornerbacks not being drafted this high, but with the newly implemented rookie salary cap coming in, it takes the politics and tiering out of contracts. This will now allow NFL teams to select the best player on the board for all the right reasons, not because they feel like the player is “signable” or they don’t want to deal with his agent.

The NFL is in lockout mode right now, but that doesn’t mean Fantasy Football Brother’s packs up and goes home. No, we are rearing and ready to go for another season and we thank our readers for all the positive feedback we have received concerning the site.

Mock 3.0

  1. Carolina Panthers-Patrick Peterson-CB-LSU-I think Peterson is the top player in the draft. The Panthers have so many holes, why not start with getting the best player in college football last season. Sorry Cam Newton.
  2. Denver Broncos-Da’Quan Bowers-DE-Clemson-John Fox believes he’s getting the second coming of Julius Peppers….we’ll see.
  3. Buffalo Bills-Marcel Dareus-DT-Alabama-I think Dareus is the best defensive tackle in this draft and this is a chance for the Bills to beef up their defensive front.
  4. Cincinnati Bengals-A.J. Green-WR-Georgia-Green is still the best wideout on the board even though he is being outperfomed by Julio Jones at the combine. This is the pick that could change the whole draft if the rumors are true about Carson Palmer demanded a trade or retiring.
  5. Arizona Cardinals-Von Miller-OLB-Texas A&M-Miller will give a defense that lost Calvin Pace and swung and missed on Joey Porter a much needed attitude adjustment.
  6. Cleveland Browns-Nick Fairley-DT-Auburn-It was fun while it lasted, but Fairley we think will drop like a stone. This is actually a steal for the Browns who can replace Shaun Rogers with this pick.
  7. San Francisco 49ers-Robert Quinn-DE-North Carolina-The 49ers could use a quarterback here, but the defense alone could win the NFC West. Plus we think new coach Jim Harbaugh will see what he has in the Smith brothers, then make a decision next season. With any luck, they’ll finish worst in the NFL.
  8. Tennessee Titans-Blaine Gabbert-QB-Missouri-Supposedly the best quarterback in the draft, we don’t agree, but the Titans are desperate for a signal caller after ousting Vince Young. We feel the Brady wannabe is hanging by a thread onto his number one QB status.
  9. Dallas Cowboys-Nate Solder-OT-Colorado-The Cowboys would be wise to stop the Cam Newton talk and actually protect Tony Romo who was damn near killed last season. Solder is a beast with great feet and solid technique.
  10. Washington Redksins-Jake Locker-QB-Washington-Locker is working with Ken O’Brien who is improving his accuracy and it’s said by one of our writers that Mike Shanahan has a hard on for Locker. Funny, I’ve had one for four years while he was at Washington.
  11. Houston Texans-Prince Amukamara-CB-Nebraska-The Texans were absolutely abysmal last season in their passing defense. Consider this a step in the right direction.
  12. Minnesota Vikings-Cam Newton-QB-Auburn-If the Vikings don’t get a quarterback(Kevin Kolb) then they are forced to take Newton. If Sidney Rice leaves, look for them to grab Julio Jones.
  13. Detroit Lions-Tyron Smith-OT-USC-The Lions must protect Matthew Stafford or he will be out of the league soon. They have swung and missed with taking offensive tackles in the first before, but Smith is a special talent.
  14. St. Louis Rams-Julio Jones-WR-Alabama-The Rams picked their franchise quarterback in Sam Bradford last season, now they give him a shiny new toy.
  15. Miami Dolphins-Mark Ingram-RB-Alabama-Ingram is the most popular choice ever here because Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams are football old(Williams) and unhealthy most of the time(Brown).
  16. Jacksonville Jaguars-Cameron Jordan-DE-California-The Jaguars took Tyson Alualu last season, this season they get his partner in crime at Cal.
  17. New England Patriots-J.J. Watt-DE-Wisconsin-The Patriots need to develop a pass rush and Watt fits the profile here with the 17th pick.
  18. San Diego Chargers-Gabe Carimi-OT-Wisconsin-The Badgers get back to back first rounders and the country finally realizes they are a college powerhouse in college football.
  19. New York Giants-Akeem Ayers-OLB-UCLA-The Giants look to keep it rough and tumble in the NFC East by selecting Ayers. The status of Mathias Kiwanuka is also up in the air which makes this pick a necessity.
  20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Aldon Smith-DE-Missouri-The Bucs are building their defensive front from the inside out and Smith is the final piece to a young and scary defense.
  21. Kansas City Chiefs-Corey Liuget-DT-Illinois-General Manager Scott Pioli knows how to build a team and Liuget is a nice addition to an already improving defense.
  22. Indianapolis Colts-Anthony Castonzo-OT-Boston College-The Colts must protect the investment they have in Peyton Manning. The playoff game against the Jets also tells them they need to address the offensive line.
  23. Philadelphia Eagles-Mike Pouncey-OG-Florida-The Eagles need to get more athletic along their offensive front to accommodate Michael Vicks scrambling ways, Pouncey fills that need.
  24. New Orleans Saints-Adrian Clayborn-DE-Iowa-The Saints don’t have many glaring weaknesses, but getting younger along the defensive front is always a bonus.
  25. Seattle Seahawks-Jimmy Smith-CB-Colorado-The Seahawks secondary was atrocious last season, Smith should improve that and along with Earl Thomas could make this a secondary to be feared in the future.
  26. Baltimore Ravens-Randall Cobb-WR-Kentucky-The Ravens offense needs to stretch the field for Ray Rice to succeed. This pick also allows the Ravens offense to be less predictable as they can use Cobb out of the Wildcat formation and lessen the pounding on Rice.
  27. Atlanta Falcons-Ryan Williams-RB-Virginia Tech-Williams would be a compliment to Michael Turner given the fact that Jerious Norwood has been unable to stay healthy.
  28. New England Patriots-Derek Sherrod-OT-Texas A&M-The Patriots are up shit creek without a paddle with the retirement of Stephen Neal and the possibility of Logan Mankins sitting out again.
  29. Chicago Bears-Clint Boling-OG-Georgia-A reach, maybe, but the Bears need to address the offensive line situation and let their franchise quarterback save face.
  30. New York Jets-Cameron Heyward-DE-Ohio St.-The Jets must keep restacking this defense if they have any shot against the Patriots….oh wait….I forgot….that’s right….how could I forget!
  31. Pittsburgh Steelers-Aaron Williams-CB-Texas-The Steelers must improve their corners and get bigger and more physical in the secondary if that is possible.
  32. Green Bay Packers-Stephen Paea-DT-Oregon St.-The Packers have little to no holes and they could be losing players along the defensive front. Paea is ready made to step in and produce right away.
