Andrew Luck-FFB's early favorite for number one overall.

Is it already that time of year for NFL Mock Drafts? Well for some owner’s who are already out of their league runnings in dynasty/keeper leagues the scouting has begun at the college level for a player that could fix their team.

Whether that be drafting a Mark Ingram of Alabama or the Detroit Lions finally wise up and draft an offensive tackle such as Colorado’s Nate Solder to further the growth of Matthew Stafford, we are here to help.

Andrew Luck of the Stanford Cardinal is our early favorite number one pick. The junior has looked every bit the part as he boasts a 157.53 quarterback rating. Luck has also completed 62.8% of his passes and has 13 TD’s against only 4 INT’s. He has also not had a cupcake schedule like some other signal callers across the country. Luck is 6’4, 235 lbs. and has a nice pocket presence that few others have across the country.

Unfortunately, Luck will have no luck and be selected by the Buffalo Bills, easily the worst team in all the NFL and that we do know.

Let’s get to the 2011 NFL Mock Draft:

  1. Buffalo Bills-Andrew Luck-QB-Stanford-Luck has surpassed Jake Locker of the Washington Huskies that had some scouts concerned about Locker’s growth after the Nebraska game. Luck has looked every bit the part of a number one overall pick.
  2. Carolina Panthers-Robert Quinn-DE-North Carolina-The Panthers go back to the well that is the Tarheel defense where they once plucked Julius Peppers. Quinn will be a popular pick amongst fans and will give the team something it lost when Peppers bolted for Chicago.
  3. Cleveland Browns-A.J. Green-WR-Georgia-The Browns have to get more playmakers into this offense. While they could go the quarterback route here, they already have a project in Colt McCoy to develop. We think the Browns might try to actively pursue Kevin Kolb as they showed heavy interest in him last season.
  4. Detroit Lions-Nate Solder-OT-Colorado-This is a necessary pick for the Detroit Lions at this point. While it might be a reach pick and there are definitely better players at the skill positions, the Lions would be wise to protect Matthew Stafford at some point.
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars-Prince Amukamara-CB-Nebraska-The Jaguars have been dreadful from all aspects this season, so getting a shutdown corner in Amukamara should aid in the rebuilding process. The Jaguars could very well go quarterback here, but they are still under David Garrard’s meaty contract.
  6. Arizona Cardinals-Patrick Peterson-CB-LSU-The Cardinals need to find someone who can compliment Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on the other side of the field. They have struggled in pass defense to start the season and as the NFL goes to a more pass happy league, they would get a solid corner here in Peterson.
  7. St. Louis Rams-Julio Jones-WR-Alabama-The Rams go out and get a brand new toy for Sam Bradford. Jones has been hampered somewhat by Alabama’s offense, but make no mistake he is an NFL level receiver. This is an area of need for a Rams team that has been hampered by injuries at this position.
  8. Seattle Seahawks-Jake Locker-QB-Washington-I know, I know, I know. This is totally a homer pick, but Pete Carroll saw the Legend that is Jake Locker up close and personal while at USC and just like that the Charlie Whitehurst experiment is over. The City of Seattle and the State of Washington needs this to happen.
  9. New England(from Oakland)-Adrian Clayborn-DE-Iowa-The Patriots must get some sort of pass rush going to help out their young corners who have struggled in coverage early in the season. He is a player that can rush the passer as well as take on the run.
  10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Mark Ingram-RB-Alabama-The Bucs need to move on from the Cadillac Williams era and find fresh legs in Ingram. He is a workhorse runner who would instantly make this offense better and ease the burden on young quarterback Josh Freeman.
  11. Denver Broncos-Marcell Dareus-DT-Alabama-Dareus is a freak athlete that could instantly impact the middle of the Broncos line. He makes an already solid unit that much better and with the return of Elvis Dumervil, a very formidable unit.
  12. Kansas City Chiefs-Akeem Ayers-DE/OLB-UCLA-Ayers is flying up draft boards with this season’s play as he is just starting to find his talent. The Chiefs defense has been playing well to start the season, Ayers gives them another pass rushing threat.
  13. New York Giants-Bruce Carter-OLB-North Carolina-The Giants are looking at an upgrade at the linebacker position and Carter would fill that void nicely. He gives them the playmaker they lost when Antonio Pierce retired.
  14. Minnesota Vikings-Ras-I Dowling-CB-Virginia-The Vikings could go with a quarterback here, but in a conference filled with young gun slingers they would be wise to look into the future and see that there corners are getting up there in age.
  15. Washington Redskins-Jon Baldwin-WR-Pitt-The Redskins need another weapon for Donovan McNabb. Santana Moss is really the only receiving threat they have outside of Chris Cooley. It looks like Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly aren’t going to pan out.
  16. Philadelphia Eagles-Brandon Harris-CB-Miami-The Eagles play in a division that has big, physical receivers to deal with in pass coverage. They would be wise to counteract this by taking a big, physical corner to deal with the big, physical receivers.
  17. Tennessee Titans-Travis Lewis-OLB-Oklahoma-This is an area of need for the Titans and Lewis is the best OLB remaining on the board. He is a sound tackler and shows good coverage skills for a linebacker, he is siply put a solid football player.
  18. Cincinnati Bengals-Daniel Thomas-RB-Kansas St.-The Bengals get a steal here with Thomas who I think will eventually rise up draft boards. He is a bigger back who can run between the tackles. The wheels eventually have to fall off on Cedric Benson and Bernard Scott may be nothing more than a third down back.
  19. Miami Dolphins-Rahim Moore-S-UCLA-The Dolphins have a need at the safety position and Moore is a ball hawking safety the team has been missing. The Dolphins could also go for a running back at this slot as both Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown are pending free agents.
  20. New York Jets-Ryan Kerrigan-DE-Purdue-The Jets will probably lose Jason Taylor at the end of the season, so this becomes a need pick for Rex Ryan and Co. Kerrigan is an excellent pass rusher who can also aid in stopping the run.
  21. San Francisco 49ers-Ryan Mallett-QB-Arkansas-I get the feeling that the Alex Smith experiment is over in San Francisco and the team moves on to a guy that can really stretch the field with his arm.
  22. Chicago Bears-Anthony Castonzo-OT-Boston College-The Bears would be excited if he fell this far. He is a smart player that can run or pass block. Castonzo is extremely athletic for a guy his size and could probably add even more bulk to his frame and still retain his athleticism.
  23. San Diego Chargers-Cameron Heyward-DE-Ohio State-The Chargers are looking at an upgrade here and Heyward is dominant against the run. Many think he will be a solid pass rusher at the NFL level, but he needs to gain more consistency. One plus is that he is versatile and can line up pretty much anywhere along the defensive line.
  24. New England Patriots-DeMarcus Love-OT-Arkansas-The Patriots are in a position where they need to continue to protect quarterback Tom Brady. Without Logan Mankins they need to address the offensive line position as they are starting to age.
  25. Atlanta Falcons-Allen Bailey-DE-Miami-The Falcons need to address their pass rush and would be ecstatic if Bailey fell this far. Bailey shows flashes of domination, but is still just learning the defensive end position, which I think could scare some teams away, which is why I have him sliding. This would be a great get by the Falcons.
  26. Dallas Cowboys-Da’Quan Bowers-DE-Clemson-The Cowboys take a page out of the New York Giants and start to stock their defensive line. Bowers is a player that is on the rise and would help the Cowboys get younger, as well as add some athleticism to an already athletic group.
  27. Baltimore Ravens-Gabe Carimi-OT-Wisconsin-The Ravens get a guy in Carimi that can both pass and run block really well. With some injuries along their front line, Carimi could step in and contribute immediately. This is simply a guy you don’t have to coach up to get to play.
  28. Indianapolis Colts-Rodney Hudson-C-Florida St.-The Colts draft the heir apparent to Jeff Saturday who is 35 years of age and is no spring chicken. The move makes sense in that the Colts continue to keep quarterback Peyton Manning’s uniform free of grass stains.
  29. Houston Texans-Janoris Jenkins-CB-Florida-The Texans need to improve their pass defense as they have been absolutely lit up this year and are currently 31st in the NFL giving up a whoppin 338 yards per game through the air. Jenkins would be a nice addition to this unit.
  30. New Orleans Saints-Von Miller-OLB-Texas A&M-Miller can rush the passer as well as play against the run. He fits a need for a New Orleans team that has lost some talent at linebacker. Miller is a solid fit for what the Saints do defensively and is good value here at the end of the first round.
  31. Pittsburgh Steelers-Aaron Williams-CB-Texas-The Steelers are sound defensively at every position besides corner. Williams is a big corner who is extremely athletic, he has great cover skills and does a solid job against the run. I believe he is an instant upgrade for this defense.
  32. Green Bay Packers-Ryan Williams-RB-Virginia Tech-Williams is an NFL ready back who could step in and contribute immediately, either in a timeshare with Ryan Grant or as a third down back. The Packers have seen what Brandon Jackson has done in Grant’s absence and decide it’s time for an upgrade.

This will undoubtedly change as we near NFL Draft time and teams will move up or down draft positions. This is just a rough estimate of where I think teams will draft. Hope you enjoy the read. Agree to disagree? Let us know, we love the feedback.–Fantasy Football Brothers.
