Walter makes a solid WR3

Every Tuesday we post our 1St Look Waivers. Our goal is to help you identify players who could/should be available on your league waiver wire. We know that every league is different and that some of these guys will have zero impact in your league. This is why we recommend signing up for our season pass. Playing Fantasy Football and life can be made a lot easier when you have experts in your corner to bounce ideas off of. We put in the time, so you don’t have to. It’s what we do and we love doing it.

I didn’t include the Denver wideouts because it has become too difficult to project who will do what on any given Sunday. Head Coach Josh McDaniel’s has said he was going to use a weekly rotation and he has stayed true to his word. It has become incredibly frustrating for owners, but the good thing is for the first time this year an NFL coach has told the truth. Shame on us for not listening. Which brings me to another question. Remember Mike Shanahan used to kill fantasy owners with his rotation of runners? He would never let us know who he planned on using week to week. Well, McDaniels has done the same thing with the wideouts. I wonder if it has less to do with the coaches decision, and more than anythingit has to do with the altitude in Denver. This is worth looking into. In Washington, Shanahan has used Portis as his primary ball carrier, something he would never have done while in Denver.

The fact is, we have recieved countless questions regarding the Broncos wideouts. It’s a team I would recommend avoiding if you can. All four wideouts can be fantasy relvent one week then throw up a giant doughnut the next. All four are worth owning as WR3′s, but be prepared to pull the hair out of your head if it’s not your guy’s turn.

1) Peyton Hillis – CLE – RB, vs. Cincinnati Bengals, Sun 1:00 PM
Hillis was an absolute beast against a tough Ravens run defense. He ran 22 times for 144 yards with 1 touchdown. He also added 7 receptions for another 36 yards. Not bad for a guy who’s listed as the teams #2 full back. Hillis has clearly become the number one back for the Browns and worthy of a roster spot in all formats.

2) BenJarvus Green-Ellis – NEP – RB, at Miami Dolphins, Mon 8:30 PM
The “Law Firm” led all Patriot runners with 16 carries for 96 yards and 1 touchdown. Although it was against a poor Bills defense, Green-Ellis could very well be the most productive back in this offense. However, the Patriots have a history of rotating their backs based on weekly match ups so be prepared for down weeks. Green-Ellis is worth a roster spot in larger formats.

3) Kevin Walter – HOU – WR, at Oakland Raiders, Sun 4:05 PM
Walter scored another touchdown and clearly has his quarterbacks trust. He’s a solid WR3 or flex play and is worthy of a roster spot in most formats.

4) Dustin Keller – NYJ – TE, at Buffalo Bills, Sun 1:00 PM
Keller is quickly becoming one of the hottest tight ends in football. There is nothing a young quarterback needs more than a solid tight end, and Sanchez looks for Keller early and often. I fully expect this trend to continue so consider him a decent TE1 option. Keller should be owned in leagues with 8 or more teams.

5) Marshawn Lynch – BUF – RB, vs. New York Jets, Sun 1:00 PM
Lynch led all Buffalo runners with 16 carries. He’s healthy and could very well take over as the Bills primary ball carrier. They could simply be showcasing him before the trade deadline, but I don’t think that’s the case. That was a close game the Bills wanted to win. Lynch is worth a roster spot in most formats.

6) Lance Moore – NOR – WR, vs. Carolina Panthers, Sun 1:00 PM
We had heard that Moore was going to have a larger role with Bush being out. I guess we heard right. Moore went off on Sunday catching 6 passes for 149 yards with 2 touchdowns. We don’t expect production like this on a weekly basis, but he does make a good WR3 with upside.

7) Laurence Maroney – DEN – RB, at Tennessee Titans, Sun 1:00 PM
With Moreno out, Maroney was given every opportunity to prove his worth as the featured back. Maroney was unimpressive in his Bronco debut rushing for only 24 yards on 12 carries. He wasn’t great or even good, but Josh McDaniels likes him and that could be enough to make Maroney fantasy relevant. Even as a Knowshons backup, I think his upside is limited in the Broncos offense. Only Consider him a low end RB2 or flex play if your starters are on a bye.

8) Ryan Torain – WAS – RB, at Philadelphia Eagles, Sun 4:15 PM
Torain has emerged as the #2 back behind Clinton Portis. We know Shanahan likes him from their days in Denver so he’s worth keeping an eye especially when you factor in Portis’s injury history. He’s worth a look in deeper leagues.

9) Roy E. Williams – DAL – WR
I wouldn’t get too excited about Williams performance. The Texans took Austin out of the game and Williams ended up leading the team with 6 targets. It is worth noting that this could be a theme going forward so keep him on your radar. He’s worth a roster spot in deeper leagues.

10) John Kuhn – GRE – RB, vs. Detroit Lions, Sun 1:00 PM
Kuhn continues to get enough touches to make him relevant in larger leagues. The Packers will continue to pass most of the time, but Kuhn will get his opportunities. He should be considered a low end flex play with the bye weeks upon us.

11) Mike Goodson – CAR – RB, at New Orleans Saints, Sun 1:00 PM
Goodson is third on the depth chart behind two legitimate studs, However, it’s important to mention that he’s taken over as the third down back and has produced with limited opportunities and touches. He’s someone you should keep your eye on in deeper leagues.

12) Chris Ivory – NOR – RB, vs. Carolina Panthers, Sun 1:00 PM
Ivory was one of our Super Sleepers heading into the season. He was supposed to miss up to six weeks with a knee injury but was rushed back early because bush is out. He didn’t look great with his touches but I think it has more to do with him being sidelined for four weeks. He needs some time to knock the rust off. Ivory should be picked up as a Thomas handcuff and he’s worth a look in deeper formats.

13) Kenneth Darby – STL – RB, vs. Seattle Seahawks, Sun 1:00 PM
Darby played well subbing in for the injured Steven Jackson. Jackson is considered day to day, but with his injury history I think it’s just a matter of time before he misses a large chunk of time. Darby should be added if you own Jackson or have room on your roster. He could make a decent flex play if given enough touches.
