Austin jumps Andre for the 1 spot. Moss and Welker look to put up numbers vs. the Bills. Brandon Marshall should benefit from his avoidance of Revis Island. Nicks, Santans, Collie and Royal should all continue to produce. Crabtree, Bowe and Garcon are all looking to get stared. How should you sit? Who should you start? Questions about how to trade? Who to pick up off the wire? Who will continue to struggle? Who will bounce back? Try our ALL ACESS BROTHERHOOD MEMBERSHIP, where all questions are answered. Here’s the Brotherhood’s Week 3 WR Ranks and Write ups.
1) Miles Austin – DAL – WR
Austin is unstoppable. Dallas is in disarray, but Austin’s numbers have not suffered. Dez Bryant will eventually mature and steal some targets, but he’s the highest scoring WR in most formats.
2) Andre Johnson – HOU – WR
Andre’s ankle does not appear to be a big deal. His practice participation will increase as the week goes on. We fully expect him to start and produce.
3) Roddy White – ATL – WR
White appears to be the only aerial weapon in Atlanta. Tony Gonzalez’s quiet start is puzzling. Father Time may have finally caught up to the old guy. White will monopolize targets and should find the end-zone.
4) Randy Moss – NEP – WR
Moss was able to escape Revis Island. After a disappointing loss to the Jets, look for the Pats to put a punishing on the Bills this week. New England’s complete lack of a running game should inflate their aerial attempts. Two scores is not a reach.
5) Reggie Wayne – IND – WR
Garcon’s struggles have benefited the rest of the Colt’s play-makers. Wayne may be the most consistent player on this board. He’s stress-free production.
6) DeSean Jackson – PHI – WR
DJack bounced back in Week 2 with Vick under-center. He needs to prove that he is not soley reliant on the deep ball to produce. If he can master the short and intermediate routes, he’ll be unstoppable.
7) Wes Welker – NEP – WR
He disappeared in the second half, but is a weekly threat to post double digit catches. He’s surprisingly added scoring touchdowns to his stat line. The Bills have no one who is capable of stopping him.
8) Brandon Marshall – MIA – WR
Marshall will reap the benefits of Darrelle Revis being out. He’s had his way with Cromartie in the past. His success will continue. He’ll have his best game of the season.
9) Greg Jennings – GRE – WR
Jennings and Finley may rotate statistical days. They are clearly Aaron Rodgers’ favorite two targets, but Driver has vultured 2 scores thus far.
10) Larry Fitzgerald – ARI – WR
The return of Beanie wells will hopefully bring some respite to the defensive attention that Fitz has been receiving. Derek Anderson needs to be more accurate in his throws. He doesn’t appear to be at full strength just yet. But I’ll take a 85% Fitz over the majority of receivers in the league.
11) Calvin Johnson – DET – WR
We expect the Lions to once again fall behind, forcing the team to turn to the air to compete. Best’s impressive Week 2 should have the Minny D on the prowl. If Best gets going again, it could open up some scoring opportunities for Mega. His yardage totals may suffer, but a trip to the end-zone is once again expected.
12) Hakeem Nicks – NYG – WR
Nicks scored in his first 4 games of 09. Through two games this season, he has 4 scores. He simply catches touchdowns. This is no fluke… consider it a trend, and expect it to happen again vs. the Titans.
13) Marques Colston – NOR – WR
New Orleans’ offense has yet to hit on all cylinders. Colston remains the team’s best red-zone threat, but he’s been under-utilized thus far. His scoring drought will come to rest this week. Drew Brees would be wise to look towards his WR1 a few more times per game.
14) Santana Moss – WAS – WR
16 catches is 2 games bodes well for Moss. His match-up vs. the Rams should provide plenty of opportunities. McNabb appears to love the vet and is feeding him often. Look for the two to connect on a deep score.
15) Anquan Boldin – BAL – WR
Boldin struggled vs. a stingy Cincy D. The Browns have a far more generous secondary.
16) Chad Ochocinco – CIN – WR
Carolina’s defensive backs have been torched thus far this season. Ocho should have a solid day. We’re not concerned about his rib injury.
17) Steve Smith – CAR – WR
Smith will miss the onslaught of targets that he received from Matt Moore. His target load can also be attributed to the ineffectiveness of the run game and the inability of the Panther Defense to come up with stops. We’ll see what Clausen can do. Cincy has some solid corners, but Smith has the skill set to create separation. He’s used to double teams.
18) Austin Collie – IND – WR
Collie continues to separate himself from Pierre Garcon. Peyton has shown trust in the second year man. He has the ability to stack up receptions, but has also been effective in the red-zone.
19) Steve Smith – NYG – WR
If Nicks continues to impress, opposing defense’s top corners may shift away from Smith and focus on Nicks. If that’s the case, watch his stats go up.
20) Donald Driver – GRE – WR
His yardage totals have been held in check, but he’s found the end-zone in two straight. Don’t be surprised if he makes it three.
21) Mike Sims-Walker – JAC – WR
MSW was a non-factor in the opener, but had a major bounce back last week as he pulled down 10 catches for 105 yards and a score. Don’t expect a repeat performance vs. Philly, but the Jags should be throwing quite often with the defense struggling.
22) Malcom Floyd – SDC – WR
Gates will continue to be Rivers’ primary target, but Floyd should mature into a weekly contributor. He has the stature to be a red-zone beast. He’ll get better with each start.
23) Percy Harvin – MIN – WR
After some mid-week migraine struggles, Percy reported back to practice Thursday feeling: “great”. His stats have been concerning, but a match-up vs. the Lions should boost confidence levels.
24) Johnny Knox – CHI – WR
Jay Cutler looks to be back in pro bowl form… Well maybe that’s a little generous, but he looks a lot better than a year ago. Knox should lead the team in targets. It’s just a matter of time before he connects on a deep ball.
25) Jeremy Maclin – PHI – WR
Maclin’s numbers have been modest, but he’s found the end zone in each of the first two game. Jacksonville’s corners are inferior so a third visit to the end-zone is not out of the question. Banking on touchdowns is risky.
26) Michael Crabtree – SFO – WR
We’re still waiting for Crabtree to show up. Alex Smith and the Niner offense looked very impressive in Monday Night’s contest vs. the Saints. Look for the team to ride the momentum despite the loss and put up stats vs. the Chiefs this week. He’s totalled 3 catches in 2 starts – NOT GOOD.
27) Hines Ward – PIT – WR
Ward was held in check by the Titans, but should have better success this week vs. a suspect Tampa secondary. Batch will struggle, but he’d be smart to utilize his best weapon.
28) Eddie Royal – DEN – WR
Royal is the most valuable Bronco receiver to own. He’ll remain a consistent fantasy contributor regardless of what other play-makers rise around him. Gaffney, Thomas and Lloyd will fight it out for the spot opposite him, but Royal will prove to have the most value.
29) Dez Bryant – DAL – WR
Bryant took a step back in Dallas’ Week 2 loss the Bears. His snap count and touches were down. He’s still has a lot to learn, but his curve should be shorter than your average rookie receiver. He’s been bothered by rib soreness throughout the week, but should be ready to go in what’s expected to be a shootout with the Texans.
30) Mark Clayton – STL – WR
Clayton’s 2 catches both went for scores last Week vs. Oakland. He’s shown versatility in his game, displaying his ability to pile up receptions, but also contribute in the red-zone. He’s been one of the most surprising fantasy plays of the season.
31) Mike Williams – TAM – WR
He’s played well beyond his experience level and continued his Week 1 success by finding the endzone yet again. The Steelers’ D will bring this rookie back down to earth, but his play-making ability cannot be denied.
32) Demaryius Thomas – DEN – WR
Thomas fell off of rosters all over fantasy nation when he re-aggravated his foot. We weren’t expecting him to see playing time for another week or so. He exploded onto the scene to pull down 8 catches for 97 yards and a score. Denver has a number of players competing for targets. It’s crazy to expect these results on a weekly basis, but this week’s match-up vs. the Colts should have both team’s offenses firing away.
33) Terrell Owens – CIN – WR
T.O. has seen a tone of targets, but has failed to truly capitalize. The Carolina secondary has been easily exploited this season. Owens should service as a solid WR3 play this week.
34) Kevin Walter – HOU – WR
Walter and Jones will continue to produce in one of the more explosive offenses in the league. That being said, they will both prohibit one another from reaching their fantasy potential.
35) Dwayne Bowe – KAN – WR
The Chiefs’ passing game has been non-existent. Bowe has the talent, but his quarterback lacks the skills to get him the ball consistently. Kansas City has been able to rely on their defense and ground game to compete, but sooner or later they’ll be playing from behind. That’s when we’ll see if Bowe is a bust or not.
36) Pierre Garcon – IND – WR
** UPDATE: Garcon did not travel with the team and has been ruled out for this Sunday’s matchup vs. Denver. Speaking of Busts…. Right now Garcon is looking like one of the biggest of this season. Collie has proven to be consistent. Garcon displayed streakiness last season as well, but an entire off-season to improve had us expecting more. We’re not quite ready to give up on him yet.
37) Derrick Mason – BAL – WR
Mason’s score was one of the only bright spots in Baltimore’s loss to the Bengals. He has the most history with Flacco, but Boldin should surpass him in all statistical categories.
38) Louis Murphy – OAK – WR
Murphy’s numbers took a leap once Jason Campbell hit the bench. Let’s not get too carried away… it is the Raiders, and they were playing against the Rams.
39) Mario Manningham – NYG – WR
Manningham has made the most of his snaps and has produced despite Hakeem Nicks’ success. The Giant’s D is not what it used to be forcing the team to win through the air.
40) Jacoby Jones – HOU – WR
Jones was out-played by Walter in Week 2, but he’s seeing enough playing time to make contributions. He’s yet to break a big play, but it certainly will come. If Andre suffers any set backs, skyrocket him up your list.
41) Jerricho Cotchery – NYJ – WR
Cotchery was effective vs. an immature Patriot secondary. Sanchez made a solid rebound from his opening day blunders. Miami’s D has been playing very well. With Braylon Edwards catching much heat, Cotchery will see a few more targets.
42) Mike Thomas – JAC – WR
The Jags lack of defense will continue to force the team to play from behind. We’re expecting the Eagles to pull ahead, but as we saw with Detroit, the Philly D is not what it used to be. They be looking to play catchup, forcing Garrard to throw. With MSW most likely drawing Samuel in coverage, Thomas could see an increase in looks.
43) Devin Hester – CHI – WR
After a 1 catch Week 1, Hester bounced back and phased Devin Aromashodu out of the game. Martz has to do a better job of getting the ball to the utility man in space. His value has quickly returned.
44) Nate Washington – TEN – WR
Washington has been a pleasant surprise this season. With Kenny Britt shooting himself in the foot, Washington has stepped up as the team’s No. 1. He’ll continue to lead the team in targets. He’s found the end-zone for two straight… three times a winner?
45) Mike Wallace – PIT – WR
Wallace will sit and wait for Big Ben to return. Until then, he’s too dependent on the deep ball to be relied upon for fantasy production.
46) Steve Breaston – ARI – WR
Breaston has had limited practice this week nursing injuries. The return of Beanie Wells will eventually provide more opportunities for the receivers… we just don’t think it’ll be this week.
47) Mike Williams – SEA – WR
Williams was completely shut down by Champ Bailey last week. He should have an easier time with the Chargers.
48) Robert Meachem – NOR – WR
Meachem has the talent, but does not receive the attention from Drew Brees needed to put up starter stats on a weekly basis. Henderson continues to hurt his value. Reggie Bush’s loss should provide more opportunities.
49) Legedu Naanee – SDC – WR
Naanee’s Week 1 stats were inflated by a blown coverage play that resulted in a deep score. His numbers last week were more realistic. Gates and Floyd are the two primary aerial targets, but Naanee will be a sneaky play here and there.
50) Devin Aromashodu – CHI – WR
Aromashodu found himself riding the bench last week. Despite leading the team in targets in Week 1, he also lead the team in dropped passes and missed opportunities. Devin Hester stepped up in his absence, pushing Aromashodu’s value down fantasy depth charts.
51) Lee Evans – BUF – WR
The Bills should fall behind the Pats early, forcing a ton of targets in Evans direction. The New England corners have been burnt left and right all season.
52) Mohamed Massaquoi – CLE – WR
Mass will continue to fall victim to lack of talent around him. If Cribbs can step up, more openings should develop.
53) Jordan Shipley – CIN – WR
Shipley has shown why it was so easy for the Bengals to cut bait with Antonio Bryant.
54) Danny Amendola – STL – WR
Amendola should have much success against a Washington secondary that has been very charitable to opposing receivers.
55) Devery Henderson – NOR – WR
The Saints have too many contributors to accurately forecast weekly production.
56) T.J. Houshmandzadeh – BAL – WR
Still waiting to get going. A matchup vs. the Browns should help things.
57) Josh Cribbs – CLE – WR
Cribbs needs to touch the ball a lot more. He’s a ticket seller and stat producer. What’s the hold up?
58) Jabar Gaffney – DEN – WR
With the emergence of Thomas, Gaffney will be in an even bigger fight for targets.
59) Brandon Lloyd – DEN – WR
See Gaffney.
60) Josh Morgan – SFO – WR
Morgan has surprised and out-shined teammate Michael Crabtree. QB Alex Smith looked his way early and often on Monday Night. This offense appears ready to take the next step.
61) Davone Bess – MIA – WR
The passing game has struggled with Chad Henne at the helm and the team’s run first philosophy. We won’t know how capable their aerial assault can be until they are playing from behind…. until then expect moderate stats.
62) Braylon Edwards – NYJ – WR
Drop him down your list. He’s in the dog house and rightfully so.
63) Darrius Heyward-Bey – OAK – WR
Really? Yes, really. He’s shown flashes. If he can put his speed to good use, and one of these QB’s can actually get him the ball, he might make this list more routinely.
64) Deon Butler – SEA – WR
Targets are on the rise. We like his upside…. Put him on your watch list.
65) Roy E. Williams – DAL – WR
Saw extensive action in Week 2, but stumbled when it counted.
66) Earl Bennett – CHI – WR
Came out of no where to help the Bears out last week. He has the longest history with Jay Cutler.
67) Bernard Berrian – MIN – WR
Nursing injuries throughout the week. Has been very disappointing thus far.
68) Deion Branch – SEA – WR
Falling behind Butler and Williams on the depth chart.
69) Chris Chambers – KAN – WR
A compliment receiver, nothing more.
70) Dexter McCluster – KAN – WR
The Chiefs need to get more creative in his use.
