Question
From:Ken
Question: Who should I pick up as a replacement for A. Bryant as a backup Wide Receiver. I already have A. Johnson & TJ Housh as my starters and currently have J knox, D Avery & A Bryant as my Backups. I want to get better backups and J Gaffney, D Aromashodu, R. Williams, M. Jenkins & L Naanee are available. Which should I take I was thinking L Naanee as he is a starter in SD The league just gives points for yardage and TD’sThanksKen

Answer: Ken,
Thank you for the question, we look forward to answering any questions you might have. Now on to the question. Antonio Bryant has probably lost the most value out of any receiver with his balky knee and the signing of Terrell Owens. I would rank those players as follows:
1.Devin Aromashodu-I think he has the most upside out of all these receivers, even though you have Johnny Knox, one of them is going to be fantasy gold.
2.Jabar Gaffney-alot of owner’s are sleeping on Gaffney, but he will provide steady veteran leadership to a young receiving corp. He is sleeper material.
3.Legedu Naanee-He holds value as long as Vincent Jackson is out, if and when Jackson returns he loses all value. He is a gamble, but a worth the risk gamble in one of the better passing attacks in football.
4.Roy Williams-He will produce from time to time, but is too inconsistent to be relied upon. Rookie Dez Bryant will eventually take his spot if he hasn’t already.
5.Michael Jenkins-We think Harry Douglas will eventually beat him out. Jenkins has always been a fringe player on the Falcons, will have some good games, but in the end he just doesn’t do enough to warrant being rostered.
We hope this was helpful and look forward to answering any more questions you might have. Take care.-FFB
Question

Question: Would you trade Ronnie Brown for Roddy White?
I don’t trust Ronnie Brown’s health. He’s good when he’s healthy, but having him is a big risk to me.
I have Jones Drew, LT, Lesean Mccoy, Felix Jones, Ronnie Brown at RB
At WR I have Reggie Wayne, Miles Austin, Wes Welker, Devin Hester, Devone Bess.
I was either thinking of using a WR even Roddy White to get a better RB to go with Jones Drew.
Is it worth the risk? Let me know. Thanks.

Answer: Carl,
Thank you for the question, we look forward to taking any and all your questions. I would recommend doing this deal even in a standard league. I am not sold on Ronnie Brown’s health either and don’t think he can make it through a full season. This would give you a stable of wideouts and would let you explore options in your league to some owner who might need a wideout. The problem is you have to gauge how active the other owner’s have been in the past, is this a trading league or do people stand pat with their teams. I do however think it is a good deal for you and a possible upgrade at RB would be easier dealing off Roddy White or another receiver than say Ronnie Brown and some other player. I think it is worth the risk. Take care and good luck.

From: RobAnswer: Tim,
Thanks for the question, sorry for the delay in the response, we went back and forth with this question. We recommend standing pat on this one. Pierre Thomas plays on an explosive offensive team that will give him the chance to score. The other two, not so much in Detroit and Buffalo. Also Pierre Thomas is only 25 and entering his prime, yes the others are younger, but they are also still relatively raw. Best concerns me a little with the fact that he never went over 200 carries at Cal. The Lions will try and limit his contact a little and he could lose carries to Maurice Morris and a now healthy Kevin Smith. My concerns with Spiller are the same, he didn’t go over 200 carries until his senior season, before that he didn’t go over 150. He averaged about 15.2 carries a game, which isn’t alot for a college back. I think Pierre Thomas has the most value for your team this year as well into the future in a standard scoring league. If it was a PPR league then it might be closer between the three, but being a standard scoring league we believe Thomas will be more productive. The team signed Ladell Betts recently after the Lynell Hamilton injury so Thomas won’t be asked to carry the whole load. We think Pierre Thomas breaks out this season and moves up the ranks. Hope this was helpful. Take care and good luck.

Question: 10 team H2H Start 1QB 2RB 2WR 1RB/WR 1TE 1K 1Def
QB 6pt td -2 int 1pt per 25yrds
0.1 pts per yard rushing/receiving
1 point per reception
I was wondering what your thoughts were on taking a later round quarterback? with 6 pts per passing td there value does go up, but it seems like the quarterback pool is pretty deep. And in what situation would you pick a quarterback in the early rounds?

Answer(s)
From: RobAnswer: Bill,
Thanks for the followup, we do agree the QB pool is deep, but not deep with elite talent. You can’t get the same value further down the QB ranks than you would if you had Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, or Peyton Manning, especially where passing TD’s are 6 points. If I was sitting outside the top five I would have to think long and hard about taking one of those three QB’s, especially in 6 pt. TD leagues. On total TD’s alone (run and pass)based on last year’s stats Drew Brees would get me 216 points. Rodgers would get me 210. Manning would get me 198. Compare that with QB’s further down the ranks based on last year’s stats Joe Flacco would get me 126 points. Matt Ryan would get me 138. Eli Manning would get me 162. That isn’t even throwing in the yardage numbers. Brees would get me 392 total, Rodgers 387, P. Manning 378. Those other guys Flacco 271, E. Manning 322, Ryan 255. That is a huge point differential and it is not even close with the running backs. Andre Johnson would be a guy I would think about to in a PPR, but he again is not even close, on receptions and td’s he would get you 155 points based on last year’s stats. I feel like in this league an elite QB can’t be waited on, but if you do wait I wouldn’t wait too long as you can see from the numbers the decline in points down the rankings. We hope this was helpful. Take care and good luck

Which, if either, trade should i take? are they even trades?
Also, should i drop edelman for jacoby jones?thnx!

Answer(s)
From: Rob
Answer: Donnie,
Thanks for the question, let’s take a look at the two trades. Trade one is probably the best choice, but in a standard league it is probably a wash. Ray Rice is nice, but we feel you are giving up more, especially when catches don’t count, we think Jamaal Charles will go over a 1,000 this season and have him projected around the same amount of TD’s as Rice with seven. Rice’s value takes a hit with TD vulture Willis McGahee. We also like the big play potential of Felix Jones over Steve Slaton who is coming back from a neck injury and fumbled on the goal line in the pre-season which tells us he hasn’t cured his fumblitis. I would recommend standing pat.
Trade #2 is interesting because you would be getting Drew Brees, but we feel like you are giving up a little much in this trade. Rivers is an underrated and under appreciated quarterback who has gone over 4,000 yards the last two seasons and in those two seasons has averaged 31 TD’s. We know the whole Vincent Jackson thing, but he will find a way to get his numbers and Ryan Mathews should help things. I am not sold on Montario Hardesty who was a walking injury at the University of Tennessee, he was injured in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 all with an assortment of lower leg injuries. He could find life tough in the NFL. Again we like Felix Jones big play potential for a dynamic team and Santana Moss will be undervalued this season as coach Mike Shanahan will look for a way to get Moss the ball much the same way he did Rod Smith, Brandon Marshall, and Eddie Royal in Denver. Remember Royal’s big season was under Shanahan. Moss should find new life under Shanahan and Donovan McNabb. Again in trade #2 we feel like you are giving up too much.
Remember some of the best trades in fantasy football are the ones you don’t make. While we like Ray Rice in a standard league his value suffers a little, if it was a PPR we would say pounce! Hope this was helpful, keep us informed on what you decide to do.

,
We like your team and would stand pat on both trades, as far as Julian Edelman or Jacoby Jones they’re both battling for playing time, if Jones can take over the wide receiver #2 spot from Kevin Walter then Jones will have more value than Edelman. Edelman’s value is directly tied to Wes Welker’s health which is up in the air. As far as Walter and Jones they are still neck and neck in a camp battle. We like Jacoby Jones’ big play ability and feel that if he wins the #2 spot will have more value than Julian Edelman. There is alot of unknown variables in this and we say this is a situation to monitor. If you want to be proactive there is a move you can make to get both of them just in case. That would be to drop Vince Young as your backup QB. Rivers’ bye week isn’t until week 10 and you have to ask yourself, “Am I ever going to start Young over Rivers in that span.” There are probably some pretty good QB’s on the waiver wire if one of the two wideouts doesn’t pan out. We hope this was helpful. Take care and good luck.

Question

Question: Hey brothers!
I need some help, my draft is tonight at 9 pm and i have the 5th draft position in a ten team league. Some notable scoring values for the league: non ppr and 6 points per touchdown pass, everything else is standard. I\\\’m stuck between drafting andre johnson and frank gore, what do you think? Also, this is the start of a keeper league this year where at the beginning of next season we pick 2 players to keep. Thanks for your help!

Answer: Hey Ben,
Thanks for the question. I like either A.J. or Gore, but since QBs get 6 points a touchdown, why not Rodgers or Brees? I’d prefer Rodgers even though our combined ranks says Brees, especially in a keeper like I said I really like either guy, but one of those QBs have a ton of value. What do you think?
Keep the questions coming.

Question: i have 2 questions1. i have the 10 pick in a 12 man league do i take Aaron G or Drew B with that pick?2. I have the 6th pick in my other league 12 man do i go RB RB or RB QB this is a ppr league.

Answer(s)
From: Bill
Answer: Hey Phil,
Thanks for the question.
Question 1:  I’m assuming you mean Aaron Rodgers. Personally I would go with Rodgers over Brees. But our latest combined ranks have Brees ranked higher. I honestly feel like you can’t go wrong with either QB, Rodgers running ability with his 3-4 added rushing touchdowns are what puts him over the top for me personally.Question 2: We don’t recommend going in with a set strategy like going after back to back RBs. That means you are already deciding that you will have to play catch up at other positions. Our philosophy is draft the best available. In a PPR league, WRs value increases significantly. With only 14ish elite WRs out there they will go quickly. Having the Elite WRs going earlier in the draft means there will be more value at RB since they will be pushed down in the draft. It’s not really a matter of when to take a certain position in the early stages of a draft. It is who would you rather have? If I had Gore I would look to get an elite WR,or QB, but if say Steven Jackson falls to me in the second round then I have to take him since he should have gone in the first round, especially in a ppr league.Picking 6th you will likely have a choice of either Gore, or Andre Johnson. Either player is fine to have but would you rather have the number one ranked WR, or the number 5 ranked RB? That is what you have to ask yourself. That is value based drafting. As for the second round pick it depends on who is there. If someone you like slides down to you, draft him. If Brees or Rodgers is there think about grabbing one of them. Who is going to give you the most bang for your buck.
I hope this helps.
