Fantasy Football Brothers continues to roll out our free draft kit. This week we take a closer look at the Wide Receiver position. Here at H.Q. we have been seeing a ton of questions regarding wide receivers especially in keeper/dynasty leagues.
A wide receiver ages like a fine wine. There is no rule or theory outside of the third year receiver theory, which many will have you believe is a fact. It’s a campfire tale at best. Receiver’s take time to develop because the NFL is a complex game that uses complex offensive schemes that face complex defenses constantly disguising its looks.
Wide receivers can also be held back by poor quarterback play. It’s no secret why Roddy White finally broke out after Michael Vick was out of Atlanta. Vick’s career completion percentage in Atlanta was just 52.2%. Matt Ryan took over and White broke out, due in part to his 59.7% career completion percentage.
It’s a safe bet that an Oakland receiver breaks out this season with Jason Campbell and his 61.2% completion rate. Whether it be Louis Murphy, Chaz Schilens, or Darius Heyward-Bey, someone is in line to have a productive season. JaMarcus Russell’s career completion percentage was 52.1% in case any of you were wondering.
Andre Johnson is rated our number one Dynasty/Keeper League receiver. Matt Schaub and Johnson should remain productive for years’ to come and the Texans should remain competitive in the AFC South.
