2010 July D/ST Ranks

Many people downplay the fact that getting a good defense/special teams (D/ST) can help out your fantasy squad. Truth be told many of these fantasy D/ST's will disappoint and not match their rankings. The importance of a D/ST to your squad is invaluable in the sense that they can make up points when your other players struggle. Now I'm not saying you go ahead and be the first one to draft a D/ST on draft day, I said they are important, not that important. I subscribe to the belief that a D/ST should be taken within the last two rounds of your draft. Solid D/ST's can still be found believe it or not. I'm sure we all remember last year's preseason fantasy darlings the Pittsburgh Steelers. Where did they end up when all was said and done and how many people wasted high draft picks on them... read more

Nightmare vs. Dream Scenarios

The NFL Draft was full of surprises and full of Tim Tebow's family. It is sad to say that the new time slot was a hit, so I don't think they will be going back to the old format anytime soon. This was one of the deepest drafts in recent memory and you had players being taken off the board in Round 7 that could be classified as "impact" type players. Many notable players even went undrafted, only to be signed after the draft. That is a different article for a different day, but this article has to do with situations the drafted players found themselves in come draft day and how it affects you in future drafts. So take notice, because the 'Hood is Back, better than ever. Nightmare Scenarios Quarterbacks QB-Sam Bradford-St. Louis Rams-Bradford was the first pick overall. That comes with a warning since number one picks usually go to a lousy... read more

Fantasy sophistication comes with seniority. Each year you play, you further your knowledge, lengthen your preparation and embrace your addiction. The combinations of scoring formats and roster formations allow endless opportunities. From snake drafts to auction leagues, team defenses to IDP's, fixed line-ups to flex plays. More and more leagues are rewarding for special teams play. Finding players who are not only return men, but have locked down starting jobs are high-end commodities in such formats. Heading into the 2010 season there are plenty of alluring targets that fit the bill. Average yardage on kick returns is significantly higher than punts. If you're caught between one or the other, the kick-returner is the way to go. Finding a player that returns both, and also starts on offense is... read more

The tight end position this year in college football is weak. There is no other way to put it. The position saw a large number enter the NFL Draft and it didn't help that the big name juniors came out such as Rob Gronkowski of Arizona and Aaron Hernandez of Florida. There is one tight end that is above and beyond the best in this class and that is Lance Kendricks of the Wisconsin Badgers. He and Garrett Graham formed a dynamic duo last year in Madison and now Kendricks will be the featured target in an offense that is built around the tight end. Kendricks is athletic enough that he even had seven carries for 102 yards last season. Fantasy Football Brothers expects big things out of D.J. Williams this year at Arkansas and we think he will improve on his 32 receptions in 2009. In 2008... read more

1ST LOOK:2010 WR Ranks-College Fantasy Football-

The college game lost some notable big names to the NFL this year. Dez Bryant of Oklahoma St. and Demaryius Thomas of Georgia Tech went in the first round. Gone are college stalwarts Golden Tate of Notre Dame and Arrelious Benn of Illinois, as well as the stand-out duo of Dezmon Briscoe and Kerry Maier at Kansas. The wide receivers in the 2010 class are a "boom" or "bust" gamble, then again when is the wide-receiver position not? This years class has had injuries wreak havoc and there are a ton of guys who are out to prove themselves on the big stage. The top three(DeAndre Brown, Vincent Brown, and Michael Floyd) in these rankings all have been derailed by injuries in their careers. This class is led by 6'6", 231 lb. man-child DeAndre Brown. Most of you will remember the horrific broken leg he suffered against Troy in the... read more

1ST LOOK:2010 RB Ranks-College Fantasy Football-

There were alot of talented runners to leave the college ranks last year, but that doesn't mean the cupboard is bare by any means.  Jacquizz Rodgers of Oregon State heads the list of running backs going into the 2010 season, but other backs are not far behind in talent and or production. That means the depth of talent in this year's class will provide fantasy owner's the chance to build a stable of backs or wait and build their team around other areas that don't provide as much talent down the rankings (wide receiver). The truth is a talented back like Rodgers is not that different from a Dion Lewis in Pittsburgh or a John Clay out of Wisconsin. Mark Ingram of Alabama will look to have another Heisman season in Tuscaloosa, and Shane Vereen at Cal will have the backfield to himself now that Jahvid Best has made his... read more

The time is upon us as spring practices have wrapped up across the landscape of  college football and it's again time for Fantasy Football Brother's First Look Series.  A new crop of signal callers will emerge this year, some names you will recognize and others will be names that will have to step into the spotlight because of NFL departures. John Brantley at Florida will try and fill the shoes of college legend Tim Tebow, as well as Landry Jones and Garrett Gilbert stepping in for Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy. The man at the top of the list is the same as last year, Case Keenum out of the University of Houston. He lost his offensive coordinator, but enough weapons remain intact for the Cougars and Keenum to have another successful season. Keenum was above and beyond the best statistical QB in college last year. He boasted... read more
