Dez Bryant WR
Junior: Oklahoma State
Height: 6’2″ , 220 lbs.
Dez Bryant established quite a name for himself coming out of Lufkin High School in Texas. He was heavily recruited throughout the nation but decided to commit to Oklahoma St. His 2009 field absence due to violation of NCAA bylaws has prohibited him from adding to his highlight reel, but he still poses to be a top 15 pick. His violation was relatively minimal, comparably a misdemeanor to what certain prospects have presented with in years past. Scouts will be looking to his combine performance to make sure that he’s stayed in shape while away from the field. We predict him to be the first wide-out taken in April. He could potentially land in Denver at the 10 spot, ala Brandon Marshall’s departure, or to Miami at #12. He is head and shoulders above the rest of this years crop. The Brotherhood is high on Golden Tate, but Bryant has the ultimate physique in conjunction with incredible body control pushing him to the top of our chart. There is Dez Bryant, then the rest.
Freshman Season: 43 catches, 622 receiving yards, 6 touchdowns.
Sophomore Season: 87 catches, 1,480 yards and 19 touchdowns. He had 2 games with 4 touchdowns and 2 games with 200-plus receiving yards.
Strengths: Solid build, strong frame. Good combination of size and body control. Makes good use of his stature. Tough to jam at the line of scrimmage. Strong jumping ability. Red-Zone presence, can use the corners. Makes his quarterback look good by adjusting to poorly thrown balls. Punt return ability. He’s the most complete wide-out this draft has to offer.
Weaknesses: Lacks premiere deep speed. Needs to work on his route running: currently relying on athletic ability over precision. 2009 absence of playing time. Played in spread offense.
NFL comparisons: Brandon Marshall, Chad Ochocinco.
