Herm wouldn't have pulled Manning.

Herm wouldn't have pulled Manning.

We here at Fantasy Football Brothers first would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy New Year. We decided to mix things up going into Week 17 after we were sickened by the Indianapolis Colts pulling their starters and “pissing” away a perfect season. If anyone heard Teddy Bruschi on ESPN, he was outspoken and critical of what they did. He brought up that it is not necessary to rest your players for the playoffs, that football players were football players. Given the Colts situation they would have earned the bye which gives them another week of rest. Bruschi was also honest about the Super Bowl XLII loss to the New York Giants that ended the Patriots perfect season in 2007. He said they weren’t tired from playing all the games, they were just flat out beat by a more physical Giants team.

I agree with everything Bruschi had to say concerning the Colts and their decision. If anyone watched that game we all saw the look on Peyton Manning’s face as he pleaded with coaches to let him back in the game. The only thing missing was a vomit bag after the Jets scored their defensive touchdown after the sack of Colts backup quarterback, Curtis Painter. I believe this is a decision the Colts will regret and I am now hoping they get bounced their first game in the playoffs. “Who wouldn’t want to be a part of history”, Bruschi also stated.

Which brings me to another point and it is why Fantasy Football Brothers will not be releasing projections this week and will be straying from the normal format, though we are always here to answer your questions. If you play in a fantasy league that has your fantasy championships in Week 17, get out of that league pronto. If you can’t get out because the league commish is a dictator, rebel and take a vote with your fellow league members to change it to Week 16. Truth be told, Week 17 is like a preseason game for those teams that have already locked up playoff bids, you won’t see Peyton Manning in Week 17, and I’m pretty sure you won’t see alot of Drew Brees either. The point being, it’s a waste to be guessing who will play and who won’t play, afterall do you really want to pin your fantasy hopes on Mark Brunell. That was okay six to eight years ago, but who needs the headaches of hoping Mike Hart runs for a touchdown.

So, while we will be releasing our ranks, there won’t be writeups with them. As I said earlier, projections will not be done as an honest projection is impossible without knowing who will play. We will start shifting our gears to the offseason, but not without releasing our fantasy playoff rankings for you owners that didn’t get your fill during the regular season. I am a big fan of the fantasy playoffs, it offers a different kind of strategy that you can’t get out of regular fantasy with not being able to make moves. One upset in the playoffs can tip the balance of a league. If you have yet to play in a fantasy playoff league I highly recommend it.

Fantasy Football Brothers will not be resting for the playoffs, you can rest assured we will always have fresh content for you the reader.
