The Tight End Rankings for Week 11:

1) Dallas Clark – IND – TE, at Baltimore Ravens, Sun 1:00 PM
As I predicted, Clark had a sub par performance against the Patriots last Sunday due to coach Belichick’s game plan aimed at stopping the Manning/Clark connection. Although he faces another tough D this week, I expect Clark to return to his “Superman” status on top of the TE ranks. Must start in all formats.

2) Antonio Gates – SDC – TE, at Denver Broncos, Sun 4:15 PM
Gates has quietly put together a decent year for the Chargers, and with the emergence of Philip Rivers over the past few weeks, he should continue to pack on the yards. His 2 TD so far this season are somwhat disappointing, but I think he will have a strong game against the Broncos on the road this week, and odds are he makes in into the endzone once again. Must start in all formats.

3) Greg Olsen – CHI – TE, vs. Philadelphia Eagles, Sun 8:20 PM
A few weeks back I mentioned news coming from the Bears coaching staff saying that they wanted to get Olsen more involved in the passing game. Since then, he has blown up! Look for his numbers to continue against the Eagles D, who are statistically the best mathup in the NFL for opposing TE’s. As long as Cutler can get him the ball (which is a big question mark after his 5 Int’s last week) then Olsen remains a must start.

4) Brent Celek – PHI – TE, at Chicago Bears, Sun 8:20 PM
Celek, a fantasy brothers favorite, is finally on the map! Although he has a tough matchup this week against the Bears on the road, I would still consider him a must start. With Westbrook sidelined, look for McNabb to air it out, and Celek will once again see lots of targets.

5) Kellen Winslow – TAM – TE, vs. New Orleans Saints, Sun 1:00 PM
Although I am not sold on Winslow, he deserves the 5th spot this week due to his stong perfomances the last two weeks. Facing the Saints D isn’t the best matchup, but the Bucs should be airing it out early and often as they scramble to keep up with the Saints on the scoreboard.

6) Vernon Davis – SFO – TE, at Green Bay Packers, Sun 1:00 PM
With talk of the Pro Bowl looming around him, this proves to be a huge game for Davis to prove himself after a poor performance last week. Green Bay isn’t the best matchup for opposing TE’s but he should have ample opportunities to find the endzone. My only concern is that Frank Gore will continue to dominate offensively, limiting targets for Vernon and the WR’s.

7) Jeremy Shockey – NOR – TE, at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Sun 1:00 PM
Shockey’s stats have cooled off a bit lately, as Brees has found himself struggling the last few weeks. I look for a big rebound this week for Brees against the lowly Bucs, and that means that Jeremy is a must start. Look for several targets, and he could find himself in the endzone once again.

8) Tony Gonzalez – ATL – TE, at New York Giants, Sun 1:00 PM
Gonzo has been very consistent this year, warranting a start in all formats. However, the Giants are coming off a BYE week facing a must win situation. My gut says that this means tons of pressure on Matt Ryan, especially with Turner now being sidelined with an injury, and that doesn’t bode well for the Falcons and Gonzo. If you have other options, you may want to consider them this week, as my advice is to avoid Gonzo in a tough mathup on the road.

9) Jason Witten – DAL – TE, vs. Washington Redskins, Sun 1:00 PM
Charles Woodson shut down Witten and company last week, destroying my prediction of a break-out week. I will go on the record as saying I F’d up, but watch, he will blow up one of these next few weeks! This could be the week… Or it could be another week of disappointment. Sorry gents, this guy is too unstable to predict at this point. (I’m going to say, start-em and pray!)

10) Heath Miller – PIT – TE, at Kansas City Chiefs, Sun 1:00 PM
Heath Miller and the Steelers got their asses handed to them last week at home against the Bengals. Look for Big Ben and the crew to bounce back in a big way this week, helping Miller get back to his normal self. Surely Mendenhall will steal some of the thunder, but he will also help the play action pass benefitting Miller in the redzone.

11) Visanthe Shiancoe – MIN – TE, vs. Seattle Seahawks, Sun 1:00 PM
Shiancoe has been quiet the last few weeks for the Vikes. With Brett Farve at the helm he will continue to have value, but his opportunities will be limited to the redzone. He is worth a gamble this week against the Seahawks, but it’s a risky start due to his normally quiet performances.

12) Dustin Keller – NYJ – TE, at New England Patriots, Sun 4:15 PM
Keller has put together a couple of nice games for the Jets the past few weeks. He could be a nice gamble this week, if your desperate, against a struggling New England defense. My crystal ball says that Brady and company are going to bring the pain this week against the Jets to prove that they are for real, and to put the Colts debacle begind them. This will leave the Jets offense on the field playing cath-up which is always nice for your starting TE.

13) John Carlson – SEA – TE, at Minnesota Vikings, Sun 1:00 PM
Although Carlsons stats may say otherwise, I advise you to avoid him. He has become an afterthought in the Seahawks offense, and his 1 catch last week went for 31yds and a TD. Don’t expect him to repaet that again this week in Minnesota, which instead leaves him as a risky start at best.

14) Zach Miller – OAK – TE, vs. Cincinnati Bengals, Sun 4:15 PM
With the Raiders FINALLY benching Jamarcus Russel, I expect that Miller will have some value in the future. However, avoid him this week as the Bengals D beats up on the struggling Raiders offense!

15) Kevin Boss – NYG – TE, vs. Atlanta Falcons, Sun 1:00 PM
Boss has found the endzone in his last two starts. He’s worth consideration in heavy TD leagues, but as a PPR guy, forget about it! I expect that the Giants will bring the house this week coming off of a BYE in a must win situation, but that may not be enough to warrant a start for the “Average Joe Boss”.

16) Benjamin Watson – NEP – TE, vs. New York Jets, Sun 4:15 PM
Big Ben hasn’t found the endzone in a few weeks, and his targets have been limited. His upside potential is HUGE, especailly with Brady and company expected to beat up on the Jets this week at home. He’s another guy who is worth a flier, but it’s a risky start with his limited targets.

17) Fred Davis – WAS – TE, at Dallas Cowboys, Sun 1:00 PM
Davis will start in place of Chris Cooley again this week, but he will have a tough matchup against a pesky Cowboys D. The Redskins/Cowboys game is always a decent viewing, but with the struggling offenses on both sides, this one could be a sh-t show! Keep Davis sidelined, unless you don’t have any other options.

18) Marcedes Lewis – JAC – TE, vs. Buffalo Bills, Sun 1:00 PM
Lewis had a reasonable game last week, but he still didn’t find the endzone. I think he should have another decent day against the struggling Bills this week, but his lack of consistency keeps my from saying “start em”. He’s another good gamble this week if your desperate.

19) Jermichael Finley – GRE – TE, vs. San Francisco 49ers, Sun 1:00 PM
On the bright side, Finley is practicing again, and he should find himself on the field this Sunday. However, let’s wait and see how his knee is holding up before we insert him into the starting lineup. Especially against a tough 49ers D. He will have much better value next week against the Lions!

20) Donald Lee – GRE – TE, vs. San Francisco 49ers, Sun 1:00 PM
With Finley returning to the starting lineup this week, Lee will see his targets drop off significantly. Neither are worth a start against the 49ers this week, but they could have some value down the stretch. Lee and Finley get the “wait and see” this week.

21) Brandon Pettigrew – DET – TE, vs. Cleveland Browns, Sun 1:00 PM
Look for Pettigrew’s struggles to continue as he faces the Browns D. Yes, the Browns do suck, but their defense is formidable, and that’s enough to slow down Pettigrew and the Lions offense. The emergence of Will Heller will also hurt his production as Heller seems to be getting the redzone looks. This game should result in a Lions “W” but it’s gonna be ugly!

22) Will Heller – DET – TE, vs. Cleveland Browns, Sun 1:00 PM
Similar to Pettigrew, Heller will also struggle this week against the Browns D. He’s red zone targets are promising, hence the addition to the ranks, but it’s too early to even think of trying to start him. Be patient, and let’s see what he can do down the stretch.

23) Todd Heap – BAL – TE, vs. Indianapolis Colts, Sun 1:00 PM
Heap’s value is limited this week. He hasn’t practiced all week after a couple of BIG hits this past Monday night in Cleveland. I don’t expect him to play against the Colts, and if he does, he will be limited significantly. Avoid Heap this week, and with his injury history, he may be finding himself on the waivers shortly.

24) Daniel Fells – STL – TE, vs. Arizona Cardinals, Sun 4:05 PM
Fells is an average TE with some potential down the road. He has a nice matchup this week against Arizona at home, and with the Rams receiving core depleted, he could put together a nice game. Lets keep an eye on him this week, but sharing time with Randy McMichael will certainly limit his potential. Keep him on waivers.

25) Tony Scheffler – DEN – TE, vs. San Diego Chargers, Sun 4:15 PM
Tony hasn’t done much from the TE position so far this season, with one game being the exception. With Orton limited this week, and Chris Simms possibly filling in this week at Q, I would avoid Scheffler again this week.

26) Randy McMichael – STL – TE, vs. Arizona Cardinals, Sun 4:05 PM
With Randy splitting time with Daniel Fells, he’s not worth the gamble. Keep him on waivers.

27) Anthony Fasano – MIA – TE, at Carolina Panthers, Thu 8:20 PM
With an injured hip, Fasano will be lucky to see the field this week on Thursday. If you haven’t already done so, Drop Him!! His value is next to useless…
