Turner Could Miss At Least Week 11
Another Sunday and another trip to the infirmary. Every Monday Fantasy Football Brothers takes a 1ST LOOK around the NFL to report all the injuries that took place and there potential impact going forward. Week 10 in the NFL saw three of the most productive running backs in football all go down with injuries. The scary news is that Brian Westbrook suffered another concussion, his second in three weeks. Lets keep our fingers crossed that all the players on this list return to action soon. As always we’ll keep you posted throughout the week.
Michael Turner – ATL – RB
Turner carried 9 times for 111 yards before leaving Sundays game with an ankle injury. Early reports are that he suffered a sprain and the team will evaluate him further on Monday. This obviously isn’t good. Turner not returning to the game that was widely considered a must win means that the ankle is pretty bad. He has been on fire lately and this would be a tough break for his owners if he misses significant time. It has already been reported that he will likely miss Sunday’s game.
Fantasy Impact: With Jerious Norwood also banged up the Falcons turned to Jason Snelling. Snelling performed well in relief gaining 93 yards on 21 touches with a touchdown. He’s worth a look if Norwood and Turner are limited next week.
Cedric Benson – CIN – RB
Benson left Sundays game against Pittsburgh with a hip injury and did not return. It is reported that he suffered a hip flexor and that the injury is not considered to be serious. However, any time a running back sustains an injury to his lower body it should be monitored closely to see if there’s any loss of explosiveness. All the little bumps and bruises add up. The Bengals will evaluate him further throughout the week, and there is cause for concern since their are rumors of Larry Johnson signing with the Bengals.
Fantasy Impact: If Benson misses anytime rookie Bernard Scott would take over as the starter with Brian Leonard also seeing an increase in playing time. Scott is a talented enough back to warrant a roster spot in all formats.
Brian Westbrook – PHI – RB
Westbrook suffered another concussion in Sundays loss to the Chargers. This is the second one in about three weeks. The first one coming in the Monday night game against the Redskins in which he was knocked unconscious. This isn’t good for the Eagles or Westbrook. We have no timetable on a return but I wouldn’t keep my fingers crossed. I know he’s a tough little bastard, but I would be surprised if he returns this season.
Fantasy Impact: LeSean McCoy is a talented back who has and will carry the load for as long as Westbrook’s out. Hybrid full back Leonard Weaver would also see an increase in touches.
Julius Jones – SEA – RB
Jones left Sunday’s game with broken ribs. Not only did he suffer the broken rib but it’s been reported that he also has bleeding in his lung. Jones will be ok, but he’s probably going to miss some time.
Fantasy Impact: With Jones out Justin Forsett will take over as the starter. Forsett’s a guy we mentioned in the preseason as a possible sleeper going into camp. When Jones went down he was able to display his skills. He carried 17 times for 123 yards with 1 TD while also adding 5 receptions for 26 yards. He may have taken the starting job from Jones who has been very ordinary.
Ronnie Brown – MIA – RB
Brown was on his way to a big day before suffering an ankle injury. Early reports are that it’s just a sprain and he should be ok. However, with the Dolphins playing on Thursday night there is a good chance he could be limited. Jay Glazer from Fox Sports reported that there are two injuries and he is most likely out Thursday. Check back with us on Wednesday for our Thursday night breakdown to see what you should do about Brown .
Fantasy Impact: The Dolphins offense runs through Brown. If he’s out R. Williams would see an increase in touches. Pat White is another guy who could see his role increase.
Kyle Orton – DEN – QB
Orton left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. The severity of the injury is unknown but it must be bad because he didn’t return to the game and Denver needed a win.
Fantasy Impact: Denver is in trouble if Orton can’t go against the Chargers. Chris Simms looked flat out horrible in relief.
