Friday in the Brotherhood mean final ranks and write ups. The tight end position remains one of the deepest and most exciting in football. With several players having career years there in no shortage of options, even with six teams having the week off. This week we get to see if Heath Miller and Brent Celek can continue to perform at the level they have. We also get to see if Zack Miller and Jermichael Finley can build off there impressive last two games. This week also puts Jason Witten in the spotlight as owners hope he can finally find the endzone.

1) Antonio Gates – SDC – TE
Gates remains one of the most consistent tight ends in football. He has had 5 or more receptions in every game this year. This week the Chargers travel to Kansas City so we can expect another big day out of Gates.
2) Dallas Clark – IND – TE
Speaking of consistency, Clark has hauled in 7 or more passes in every game but one. He is an elite option at the tight end position. He will continue to put up huge numbers this week when the Colts travel to St.Louis to play the woeful Rams.
3) Brent Celek – PHI – TE
A Fantasy Football Brothers favorite, Celek has become a consistent weekly option at tight end. This week the Eagles travel to Washington for Monday night football. With the Eagles having difficulty keeping opposing pass rushers from harassing McNabb, He’s going to have to get rid of the ball quickly. That should translate into lots of targets for Celek underneath. Celek will have a solid game against the Skins.
4) Jason Witten – DAL – TE
The Cowboys come off the bye week to host the Atlanta Falcons. Witten has had difficulty finding the endzone this year as he only has 1 TD. We hope the emergence of Fantasy Football Brothers sleeper, Miles Austin will draw some of the coverage away from Witten. If he can, then the middle of the field should be wide open for the Romo’s favorite target.
5) Owen Daniels – HOU – TE
Daniels has been a big part of the Texans explosive passing game. He has become one of Matt Schaub’s favorite options and it shows in the number of targets he gets. The Texans host the 49ers this week. They are coming off of the bye and have been very good at defending opposing teams tight ends. With that being said I still like Owens chances but expectations should be tapered a little.
6) Tony Gonzalez – ATL – TE
Gonzalez continues to be one of Ryan’s most reliable options. Tony hasn’t put up the numbers like he has in years past, but we expected that when he came over from the Chiefs. The fact remains that the Falcons are a run first team and Ryan does a good job of spreading the ball around. This week shouldn’t be any different when the team travels to Dallas. We can expect between 5-6 catches for 60 yards.
7) Heath Miller – PIT – TE
The former first round pick has been one of the biggest surprises in football this year. The Steelers are passing more than ever and Miller is one of the biggest beneficiaries. On Sunday they host the undefeated Vikings. Look for another pass heavy attack this week as the Vikings are better defending against the run than the pass. Miller is in for another big game.
8) Vernon Davis – SFO – TE
Davis is another former first round pick who is having a career year. The 49ers are a run first team but Davis remains one of the only legitimate options in the passing game. This week they travel to Houston to take on the Texans. The Texans have done a nice job defending opposing tight ends this year. Davis could have trouble getting open in this one. We hope his freaky physical skills allows him to get open on a couple of plays. We still like him as an option this week because he get’s so many targets.
9) Visanthe Shiancoe – MIN – TE
Shiancoe has found the endzone three times in the past two games. Brett Favre loves to use the tight end in the redzone and it shows. We think his roll will continue to grow as the season progresses. This week they travel to Hines Field to take on the Steelers who just happen to be getting there all world safety back. With the Steelers pass rush, Favre will look to dump the ball off underneath to his backs and tight end.
10) Jeremy Shockey – NOR – TE
Shockey is battling a shoulder injury but he’ll play against the Dolphins in Miami. Playing for the best offense in football means inconsistent targets. However, it also means single coverage and the chance to blow up on any given Sunday. Shockey wont have a ton of yards or catches but there a good chance he’ll find the endzone.
11) Chris Cooley – WAS – TE
Regardless of Washington’s struggles on offense, Cooley remains a consistent weekly option. The Skins host the Eagles on Monday night football this week. The Eagles have a very good defense but have had trouble defending opposing tight ends. Cooley is a solid play this week.
12) Kellen Winslow – TAM – TE
Winslow is the #1 option in the Bucs passing attack. The problem is that it isn’t much of an attack. Tampa travels to England to take on the Patriots. The Bucs are technically the home team on paper, but that wont mean crap in this one. The Patriots are one of the best teams in football at shutting down opposing tight ends. This could be a tough one for Winslow.
13) Greg Olsen – CHI – TE
Olsen has scored in three strait games and finally looks like he is developing a chemistry with Cutler. However, I wouldn’t get to excited because one of the scores came in a game when he had 1 catch for 1 yard with the TD. The hope is that the Bears offense will become more balanced and Olson will find more room to roam.
14) Zach Miller – OAK – TE
Over his last two games Miller has 10 catches for 208 yards and a score. He’s Russells favorite target, but that’s not exactly a good thing. With the Jets coming to town Miller could find some space and have a decent game. He’s a borderline TE1 this week.
15) Jermichael Finley – GRE – TE
In his last two games, Finley has 11 catches for 182 yards and a score. The good thing is Rodgers trusts him and the Packers love to throw the football. The bad news is his playing time is limited to two tight end sets. However, if Finley keeps putting up solid numbers, it’s going to be hard to keep him off the field.
16) Dustin Keller – NYJ – TE
I had high expectations for Keller this year. He is ultra talented but has been a disappointment due to the poor play of Mark Sanchez. Until Sanchez can turn things around, Keller should remain on your bench. The Jets travel to Oakland so we expect lots of runs anyway.
17) Kevin Boss – NYG – TE
Boss is a talented tight end he just doesn’t get his number called enough in the Giants passing game. This week the G-men host Arizona who have had trouble against opposing tight ends this year. With that being said the tight end position is just too deep to warrant a start for Boss.
18) Anthony Fasano – MIA – TE
Fasano is another guy I had high hopes for this year. With Chad Henne taking over as the starting quarterback there could be a glimmer of hope for him. In his last game he had 4 catches, matching his season total. I would give it a few weeks but he could be someone to keep an eye on.
19) Benjamin Watson – NEP – TE
Watson is listed as questionable with a head injury and was limited in practice on Thursday. The injury alone scares me, but couple that with his inconsistency and Mr. Watson becomes a non play this week.
20) Donald Lee – GRE – TE
Lee is technically the starting tight end for the Packers. Finley is much more talented but Lee is the better blocker. With the o-line having trouble protecting Rodgers, we can expect more two tight end sets to come.
