Every Monday and Tuesday Fantasy Football Brothers takes a 1ST LOOK around the NFL where we provide instant analysis of what it all means to you in fantasy nation. Today we get our 1ST LOOK at the waiver wire. The Wire has been growing thinner and thinner each week and it has become harder to find quality guys to help fill in for injured players, bye week fill ins and depth. This weeks waiver report has players who should be owned in most formats and players who will simply make a good stop gap option this week with six teams on byes Bal,Det,Den,Jac,Sea, and Ten.
Fantasy Football Brothers is very excited to announce a huge change coming that we will release on November 1st. Be on the lookout. Let the hype begin.

RUNNING BACKS

With Morris Likely Out Maroney Is Diving On To Rosters This Week
Laurence Maroney – NEP – RB
If Sammy Morris is unable to play, Maroney could finally have significant fantasy value. Although it may only be for one week, the Pats travel to England to play a very poor Tampa Bay team then are off with a bye week. Worth a roster spot in 12 team leagues.
Justin Fargas – OAK – RB
Fargas looked good and ran hard in Sundays win over the Eagles. He saw 24 touches to only 7 for Bush, making him this weeks better option.
Kevin Faulk – NEP – RB
Faulk could see an increase in playing time Sunday. He could get more touches making him a borderline flex play or low end RB2 in deeper leagues.
BenJarvus Green-Ellis – NEP – RB
“The Law Firm” ran hard in garbage time Sunday and could see 10 or more touches if Morris is out, that would leave the fragile Maroney left in front of him for time something that is worth a look in deeper leagues.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Miles Austin – DAL – WR
Readers wrote and asked two weeks ago about who they should grab Austin or Maclin? We told everyone to take Austin. And here was the reason why, the Eagles run a spread west coast attack where the only person that is almost guaranteed receptions are DeSean Jackson, and F.F.B. favorite Brent Celek. We told you that Austin’s performance will force him into the linuep when(according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram)the other two receivers have been suspect at best all year. Is Austin a WR1 or WR2, no, but he does make for an interesting bye week fill in and WR3 play though.
Austin Collie – IND – WR
Collie has emerged as one of Peyton’s first four options in the passing game. He has displayed solid hands and good route running ability. As long as he’s getting targets he remains a wide receiver three. This will all likely change when WR Anthony Gonzalez is fully healthy
Mohamed Massaquoi – CLE – WR
Massaquoi is not exactly a boom or bust play. He will have bad games and probably never repeat his week 4 outing. However, he will lead the Browns in targets most weeks making him worthy a roster spot in deeper leagues.
Michael Crabtree – SFO – WR
Rumor has it that Crabtree will get the start when the 49ers come off the bye. If you have a roster spot available he is worth a look in deeper leagues, and could be a potentially valuable stash and dash candidate in Dynasty, Keeper formats
Lance Moore – NOR – WR
Moore showed up for the first time this year catching 6 balls for 78 yards and a score. Targets will be hard to come by in this spread out attack, but Moore is definitely worth a roster spot in deep leagues during the bye weeks.
Robert Meachem – NOR – WR
Meachem is also worth a roster spot if you need help during the bye weeks. All the Wideouts in this high octane Saints offense can blow up at anytime, the problem is which one which week.
James Jones – GRE – WR
Jones doesn’t get a ton of targets, but he usually makes the most of them. If your hurting at wide out this week in deeper leagues especially with more teams on byes. Jones is worth a look.
Mike Thomas – JAC – WR
Mike Thomas could emerge as an option in the pass heavy Jags attack, he is not roster worthy but he is someone to keep an eye on and scout for later this year, or even as Torry Holt’s possible replacement if he is sent packing in the offseason.
TightEnds
Visanthe Shiancoe – MIN – TE
Shiancoe is proving to be one Favre’s most consistent weapons in the redzone. With Harvin banged up and seeing less targets, Shiancoes role will only increase. He is unowned in too many leagues and is worth a roster spot in all formats.

I’m surprised there are that many people on the waiver wire. Injuries tend to pile up about now and you would think teams would be hanging on to people.
Agree, but as bye weeks begin, teams are forced to drop players to free-up roster spots for fill-ins. If you have a high waiver pick, it’s worth holding onto until a break-out performance occurs (Miles Austin), or an Injury occurs (Marion Barber – Tashard Choice). Leagues are often won and lost on the wire.
I’m stuck between starting mike wallace, maclin, or james jones as my fourth receiver. Just wondering who you would take a flyer on.
Thanks for your comment/question
Here is how I would rank your options and why:
1 – Maclin:
2 – Wallace
3 – Jones
Maclin gets the nod based on the simple fact that he’s a WR2 as opposed to a WR3. The Eagles are a pass happy offense. He’ll be a streaky player for his stats will rely heavily on the deep ball, but he’ll have some big days.
Wallace has done a fantastic job filling in the void left by Nate Washington. He has solidified his WR3 position over Limas Sweed and has gained Big Ben’s confidence.
Jones – I’ve always liked Jones’ potential but being injury prone has kept him from blooming. Green Bay’s passing attack will depend on the O-Lines ability to buy Aaron Rodgers time to throw. He’s currently more of a “wait and see” type of guy.
Hope that this helps.
