Every Monday and Tuesday Fantasy Football Brothers takes a First Look around the league. In this weeks installment of the injury report, we cover all of Sundays injuries that could have a significant fantasy impact. The big news from the weekend comes from the big apple. The Jets reported that Leon Washington will miss the rest of season with a broken leg. Washington hasn’t had a significant fantasy impact but his replacement could. Rookie Shonn Green took the opportunity to show fantasy nation what he can do when given the chance. He rushed for 144 yards and two scores on just 19 carries. He should be the waiver pickup of the week we will have more on him tomorrow. The scare of the week came from the Texans’ Andre Johnson. Johnson left the game in the fourth quarter in obvious pain. Early reports are that the all world wide out only suffered a bruised chest. He shouldn’t miss any time so Johnson owners can take a step back from the ledge.

1) Leon Washington – NYJ – RB
Washington is going to miss the rest of the year with a broken fibula. The injury means that Rookie Shonn Greene will split time with Thomas Jones. He is a very capable back and should be owned in all leagues. Something to watch for is if Green cuts into Thomas Jones value. If they rotate goal line carries Jones would lose significant value. The Jets replaced Washington in side the 5 yard line because they didn’t believe he could handle the punishment. They might not do that with Green, who is very capable of carrying the ball inside the 5 yard line.
2) Andre Johnson – HOU – WR
Johnson left Sundays game in the fourth quarter with a chest injury. He underwent x-rays after the game that reportedly came back negative. It appears to only be a bruise and Johnson is not in danger of missing anytime.
3) Donald Brown – IND – RB
Brown injured his shoulder early in Sundays game and never returned. The injury is not believed to be serious and Brown shouldn’t miss any time. We will monitor the situation throughout the week. If the injury is more serious than believed and Brown is limited in practice then Joseph Addai will get a boost in value.
4) Bernard Berrian – MIN – WR
Berrian left Sundays game in the first half after tweaking his left hamstring. He missed several weeks in the preseason with an injury to his right hamstring. Berrian has been a disappointment so far this season so it shouldn’t be a major blow to your fantasy lineups if he misses week 8. Percy Harvin and Visanthe Shianco would become a bigger part of the game plan with Berrian out.
5) Jermichael Finley – GRE – TE
Finley left Sundays game with what is being called a knee sprain. Early reports suggest that the injury could keep him out for a couple of weeks. Tough break for the young tight end. Donald Lee and James Jones would see an increase in targets with Finley out.
6) Kevin Boss – NYG – TE
Boss left the game Sunday night after getting crushed on a reception over the middle. The fact that he held onto the ball is a testament to the tight ends hands and concentration. We don’t know if he suffered a head injury or if he just got knocked for a loop after the helmet to helmet hit. We will keep you poster throughout the week.
7) Trent Edwards – BUF – QB
Edwards has already been ruled out for week 8. I assume the Bills will revisit the quarterbacks situation after there week 9 bye. In the meantime Ryan Fitzpatrick remains the starter. Fitz shouldn’t be considered a fantasy option.
