Every Monday and Tuesday Fantasy Football Brothers takes a 1ST LOOK around the NFL where we provide instant analysis of what it all means to you in fantasy nation. Today we check out our HIT or MISS? and analyze the studs and the duds. MJD met our expectations after being the number one ranked RB, and Tom Brady and Company put up some silly numbers in a winter wonderland for Patriot fantasy owners, and turned into a white out nightmare if you faced the Pats players. In the Miss section I uncover a disturbing trend amongst my Miss players, the Power of 3 and it is not a good thing.
Fantasy Football Brothers is very excited to announce a huge change coming that we will release on November 1st. Be on the lookout. Let the hype begin.

THE HITS

Snow? Snow Problem!
Jones-Drew called out his offensive coordinator during the week for abandoning the run too early. The Jags were humiliated by the bi-polar Seahawks last weekend, and MJD felt like Jacksonville went away from the run too early. The coaching staff responded with more carries for the little bowling ball and he rewarded the coaches by punishing the Rams for 133 rushing yards 3 touchdowns and topped it off with 5 receptions and 45 receiving yards. This is why the Brotherhood had MJD ranked 1 in their Friday Final Ranks
Tom Brady – NEP – QB
Rain was forecast for all of New England yesterday. AT about 3:30 I was called and told it was snowing in Foxboro, I thought to myself oh no, I benched Brady because it is raining out. I know always start your studs, well I have another axiom, always start a Patriot in the snow. I did neither so you know the Karma Police are going to pull me over with my second offense of the day and give my team a loss.
Brady destroyed the Titans and their banged up leaky pass defense. All Brady did was pass for 380 yards, and 6 TDs and to top it all of he was pulled in the third quarter sounds like a game of Madden to me.
Randy Moss – NEP – WR
Moss also got into the snow shenanigans yesterday. Fellow writer Paul put it best it “looks like street football.” Indeed. Moss had 8 receptions for 129 yards and 3 touchdowns. He scored two touchdowns within a 57 second span, and my favorite was the flea flicker. There were two flea flicker plays that I saw in the NFL yesterday, is there a sweeter play? Moss came out of the game with Brady in the 3rd quarter.
Wes Welker – NEP – WR
Fantasy owners can always count on Welker for a bunch of receptions and yards but touchdowns are always few and far between. He only had 3 TD’s last year and that was with 111 receptions. Fast Forward to this year and Welker has now matched his last years total with 3TDs in the last two games. The mighty mite was targeted 11 times he brought in 10 receptions for 150 yards and 2 TD’s.
DeAngelo Williams – CAR – RB
Like we predicted in our ranks on Friday, D.Will responded by breaking out of his season long slump gashing the woeful Buccaneers for 152 yards rushing, two touchdowns and two receptions for twenty receiving yards. The Panthers won the game despite itself after Tampa returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown, and Delhomme threw a pick 6 late allowing the game to be tied. Carolina has struggled but the run game gets another shot next week at another bad defense the Buffalo Bills, and yes any team that allows Thomas Jones to rush for 200+ yards is very bad.
Drew Brees – NOR – QB
Brees reassured fantasy owners and reminded them why he was the first QB drafted. We called out the number one ranked Giants defense in our Friday ranks and their soft schedule. Faced with the daunting task of facing the unbeaten and number one overall defensive stalwart Giants Sunday. Brees responded to the task and put a hurting on the G-Men, all he did was throw for 369 yards 4 touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Nice game.
Ray Rice – BAL – RB
Rice has quietly become a Fantasy stud the last few weeks as RB Willie McGahee has been unable to find his way off the bench. I know everyone calls the Eagles LeSean McCoy the next Westbrook, but truth be told it is Rice. Rice accounted for a little less than half of all of the Ravens total offensive yards yesterday with 194 yards combined. Rice rushed for 77 yards with 2 touchdowns on runs of 33, and 22 yards. He also had 10 receptions for 117 yards.
Thomas Jones – NYJ – RB
In Friday’s ranks I mentioned Jones and his struggles with his low yards per carry, and how his touches have slowly started to diminish. Tommy Jones responded yesterday by destroying the woeful Bills (Its a shame the Bills won, I really think Jauron is killing this team) run defense for a whopping 210 yards rushing topped off with a 71 yard rushing touchdown. Jones continues to thrive on playing lousy defenses, something that fantasy owners should be aware of, since he has appeared to be a hit or miss all year.
Hakeem Nicks – NYG – WR
Nicks makes the list more for the reason that I’m conducting a Public Service Announcement for Dynasty,Keeper, and Deep League owners. In just a short time Nicks has established himself as a playmaker for the Giants, something college fans know he did all the time as a Tar Heels at North Carolina. We will have more on him tomorrow on our 1ST LOOK: Waiver Wire segment tomorrow. Nicks was one of the lone bright spots 5 rec. 114 yards with a long of 58 and a 37 yard touchdown in what was a terrible game for the Giants in a battle of NFL unbeatens.
Matt Schaub – HOU – QB
Just like the 3-3 Houston Texans their QB Matt Schaub they both seem average, but looking a little closer to the numbers is Schaub has been an offensive sparkplug for the Texans. Having now thrown for over 300 yards in 4 of 6 games and 14 touchdowns to 5 ints. Schaub has become what we always thought he could be if he stays healthy. I’ll say it again IF he can stay healthy. We have always loved him here but have always been afraid of his injury woes to put it kindly, because when he plays he gives this team a great chance to win because they are very explosive and if Slaton can get his act together this team could make a legit run despite their banged up defense.
THE MISSES
Eli Manning – NYG – QB
We start with our Miss segment with Eli, who has glided along all season having not played a legit defense. Manning responded by getting blown out, his numbers 14/31 178 passing yards 1 TD/1 INT and a rating of 61.0 and to top it off a lost fumble. Owners should look to see how the other Manning responds to the Cards next week for a true assessment of the G-Men.
Greg Jennings – GRE – WR
Jennings had a semi-productive game with 6 receptions for 64 yards for a 10.7 yards per catch. Jennings is in the Miss category this week because we got more questions about him last week than any other player. Readers were asking should they trade for him, and other Readers were giddy about trading him to unsuspecting owners in their league who were in love with his name. Jennings is on pace for about 60 Receptions and have less than a thousand yards receiving and score 3 touchdowns.
These are not numbers of a WR1, they are numbers of a WR2/3. This is on a team where the QB is averaging almost 300 yards a game passing. The good news is the Packer have an upcoming schedule of Cle,Min,Tam,Dal,SF and Det we will know shortly what Jennings has become.
Anquan Boldin – ARI – WR
Boldin was another fantasy beast last year but has been M.I.A. for most of 2009. Boldin left yesterdays game with an ankle injury which is concerning but he might have a high ankle sprain according to the East Valley Tribune. Boldin was targeted only 7 times yesterday, and like Jennings is also on pace to finish the season with under a thousand yards receiving and 3 touchdowns.
Braylon Edwards – NYJ – WR
Braylon was another guy that we received a lot of questions about last week. Should I trade for him? Should I pick him up? To steal a line from Belichek, Edwards is what he is, and that’s a bust. Braylon was targeted 9 times but only came up with usual 3 receptions for 40 yards. Speaking of threes Braylon is on pace for 3 touchdowns as well. He is on pace to finish with about 50 receptions and 650 yards, hardly the numbers of a fantasy worthy WR let alone the numbers of an elite WR
Jamal Lewis – CLE – RB
Ahh that’s more like it Jamal Lewis killed Jerome Harrison owners last week, and yesterday killed Lewis owners unlucky enough to start him yesterday with a classic stink bomb. 11 rushes for 21 yards. He was out gained by 50 yards by Cribbs, and Harrison on the same amount of carries.
Julius Jones – SEA – RB
Jones has been mister hit or miss this year the Hawks got destroyed early yesterday. Jones only had 5 rushes yesterday, but even more embarrassing was the fact that Seattle rushed only 11 times for a measly 14 yards, the Seahawks have showed no faith in their run game all year as they abandon it regularly in games including last weeks blowout win over the Jags.
Matt Hasselbeck – SEA – QB
Hasselbeck returned to the lineup last week to blow out the Jags only to follow that game up with a brutal one yesterday. Hasselbeck finished the day going 10/29 112 passing yards 1 Int and 32.5 passer rating and to make matters worse he also lost a fumble. Seattle would be well to do to use this bye to figure out whether they are going to blow out opponents or be blown out.
Brandon Jacobs – NYG – RB
The entire Giants offense left something to be desired but Jacobs has been a huge fantasy disappointment to date. He has yet to have a hundred yard rushing game. I know you can’t run the ball when you are having your doors blown off, but I’m concerned about totals. Jacobs is on pace to rush for a thousand yards which really isn’t that impressive in todays NFL when you play 16 games. Jacobs value came in the TD department, and he has let down owners everywhere with only one rushing TD to date. Jacobs is also on pace to only score three touchdowns.
