1) Andre Johnson – HOU – WR
Welcome back! Andre Johnson sits atop our ranks where he belongs. After being shut-down by Darrelle Revis in week one, AJ bounced back and exposed what was thought to be a legit Tennessee secondary. Houston will continue to turn to the air as the running game struggles. Schaub appears to have gotten back on track. The Jags secondary will be exposed and Andre will be in for another huge day.
2) Steve Smith – CAR – WR
Smith leads the league in targets. Delhomme’s job is on the line. He’ll get a heavy dose again this week and should find pay-dirt.
3) Larry Fitzgerald – ARI – WR
Fitz is frustrated with his number of deep targets. Expect Warner to pacify his stud. Ask and you shall receive. Fitz makes it three games straight that he sees the end-zone.
4) Randy Moss – NEP – WR
Moss will rebound after being completely blanketed by Revis. New England will have to put up points to beat out the Falcons. The Pat’s offense will bounce back.
5) Reggie Wayne – IND – WR
Wayne was surprisingly contained on Monday night. Indy and Zona will be a high-scoring event.
6) Calvin Johnson – DET – WR
This will be the week that Detroit gets a win. Megatron will celebrate in front of his home crowd. His stats should improve week-to-week as his rookie QB gets better.
7) Marques Colston – NOR – WR
Colston has clearly separated himself as Drew Brees’ go-to-guy. He’s a weekly threat to score. The Bill’s defense is prepped and primed to be picked apart. Continued success is expected.
8) Anquan Boldin – ARI – WR
Boldin benefited from Kurt Warner’s short throws. He wasn’t 100% Week 2, but will be closer this week. Indy will force Arizona to open up their offense. He should put up the Boldin-like fantasy stats that we became accustomed to in 08.
9) Roddy White – ATL – WR
White found pay-dirt, but has struggled a bit as his monopoly of targets has come to an end. Tony G will continue to gain his QB’s confidence. White will produce on a weekly basis, but 100-plus yard receiving days may not come as often as in 08.
10) Greg Jennings – GRE – WR
Jennings got thrown for a donut in week 2. Expect a bounce back but his wrist injury is worth continued monitoring.
11) Vincent Jackson – SDC – WR
V-Jack has made the transition to being a legitimate WR1. His physical attributes allow him the edge regardless of who’s in coverage. He’ll continue to impress this week vs. Miami. Chambers has become an after-thought in the offense.
12) Dwayne Bowe – KAN – WR
Bowe has not been the target hoard that we expected, but he has scored a TD in each of his first two games and has been consistent in production. Cassel’s return and the emergence of Bobby Wade may help him get better opportunities.
13) Santonio Holmes – PIT – WR
Holmes was seen sporting a wrist wrap earlier in the week. He appeared wrap-free today. With Steeler’s running game struggling, look for Big Ben and his receivers to continue to out-produce expectations. Holmes has jumped Hines Ward in the Pittsburgh pecking order.
14) Chad Ochocinco – CIN – WR
Ocho faces a tough Pitt Defense, but “85″ won’t be denied. He’s made good on his word thus far, and is again a relevant fantasy factor.
15) Wes Welker – NEP – WR
Welker’s announcement on the inactive list was a knuckle-ball to fantasy owners. The Patriots smoke screen of the injury report left fantasy GMs scrambling for a fill-in. Those who were bold enough to pick-up and play Julian Edelman were rewarded. Welker remains questionable with continued knee soreness. If he plays he’s a must start.
16) Hines Ward – PIT – WR
Ward continues to be consistent. Pitt’s surprising pass-first approach has him in line for another solid week.
17) Terrell Owens – BUF – WR
Buffalo’s match-up vs. the Saints will force the Bills to open up the passing game. T.O. should have his biggest day of work thus far. He got his first touchdown last week and should have an episode of deja-vu vs. a horrific Saints secondary.
18) Steve Smith – NYG – WR
Smith will continue his hot streak. Manningham will have bigger games from time to time, but Smith will be the more consistent play.
19) Braylon Edwards – CLE – WR
Edwards threw up appeasing week 2 stats and appeared to be on a better page with quarterback Brady Quinn. The Browns are facing a legit opponent in Baltimore. The Browns chances of winning truly depend on the ability to get the offense rolling. He should see a good amount of targets.
20) T.J. Houshmandzadeh – SEA – WR
Housh continues to battle back problems, but he’s expected to play. Matt Hasselbeck’s absence will be felt, but Seneca Wallace is a better than average back-up.
21) DeSean Jackson – PHI – WR
Jackson has been battling a groin injury. He continues to sit out of practice and his availability for Sunday is still up in the air.
22) Mario Manningham – NYG – WR
Manningham has looked explosive, displaying power, and tackle-breaking ability after the catch. With Hixon dinged up – Manningham will prove he’s worth the weekly starting gig.
23) Lee Evans – BUF – WR
Evans remains one of the more streaky plays in the league. He’ll have his hot and cold days. Expect a little bit of warmth this week as the New Orleans high-flying offense will force Trent Edwards to throw the ball.
24) Donald Driver – GRE – WR
Driver capitalized on Gregg Jennings struggles. He’s a steady WR3 play.
25) Ted Ginn Jr. – MIA – WR
Ginn blew up in week 2 and for the first time looked like a legit receiving option…. that was until he dropped a sure-fire touchdown that would have sealed the game. Ginn should show that it was not a flash in the pan and have another positive outing.
26) Brandon Marshall – DEN – WR
Denver’s WRBC (Wide Receiver By Committee) is scary. Would you ever had predicted that Gaffney and Stokely would be out-producing Royal and Marshall. What a mess. Regardless, he’s still a number one talent.
27) Percy Harvin – MIN – WR
Harvin has found the end-zone in to consecutive weeks. Favre has shown confidence in the rook. The Minny offense will continue to be run dominated but Harvin warrants a start until proven otherwise.
28) Bernard Berrian – MIN – WR
Minny fans salivated over a Favre-to-Berrian connection. With Bernard’s speed being compromised by a hammy injury – we haven’t seen it yet. The play-action pass should be in effect this week. I expect a deep connection for a score.
29) Roy E. Williams – DAL – WR
Roy will appeared to be back in 08 mode as he pulled down a measly one catch for 18 yards. Romo was off. Expect a better week vs. a poor Carolina defensive unit.
30) Jerricho Cotchery – NYJ – WR
Mark Sanchez does a good job of peppering around his targets. He’s not soley reliant on one receiver. Cothery, Stuckey and Keller will rotate as target leaders.
31) Devin Hester – CHI – WR
Why don’t the Bears utilize Hester better? I’d be running a bubble screen every other play. Once the corner began to inch up – give a pump fake and throw the deep ball. The entire Bears offense should have a field day vs. Seattle.
32) Eddie Royal – DEN – WR
He’s been the most disappointing fantasy WR thus far. How long will the drought last? It is hard to guess, but there appears to be no ending in sight. Once thought to be a reception machine, Royal has fallen into fantasy no-start material. Granted it’s only week three, but owners should be concerned.
33) Steve Breaston – ARI – WR
Breaston is still not at full health, but that did not stop him from leading all Cardinal receivers in yardage. Expect a shootout Sunday night.
34) Derrick Mason – BAL – WR
Kelly Washington lead all Baltimore WRs in catches and yards in week 2. The Flacco-to-Mason connection has not been on thus far this season. Look for them to get back on track vs. Cleveland.
35) Laurent Robinson – STL – WR
Robinson is the only bright spot in the Ram’s offense aside from Steven Jackson. He’s become the WR1 and is Bulger’s favorite target.
36) Kevin Walter – HOU – WR
Will this guy get healthy already! Frustrated Walter owners will be rewarded when he gets on the field.
37) Santana Moss – WAS – WR
Campbell has been spreading the wealth. Cooley, Malcom Kelly and Randle El will continue to compete for targets.
38) Devery Henderson – NOR – WR
Henderson’s hands appear to be improving. His speed is elite. If he can put the two together he could have a Berrian-like 09.
39) Mike Sims-Walker – JAC – WR
Sims-Walker stepped in and delivered after Troy Williamson exited. Williamson is out for the season putting Walker in a prime place to produce. The Jags porous defense will force Garrard to rely more heavily on his arm than years past. Sims-Walker is one of many waiver wire pick-ups this week that will continue to produce.
40) Johnny Knox – CHI – WR
Knox will build off an impressive week 2. He replaced Bennett as the game went on and scored a crucial TD to tie things up. Knox should get the start this week and should get a stock bump in leagues that reward for return yardage.
41) Chansi Stuckey – NYJ – WR
Stuckey lead the Jets in targets in week two. Sanchez seems to like the kid.
42) Nate Burleson – SEA – WR
Burleson did not meet our expectations in week 2. All Seattle receiving numbers will suffer with the absence of Hasselbeck.
43) Torry Holt – JAC – WR
6 catches for 65 yards is not bad. He’s getting the targets, but the emergence of Sims-Walker may cut into his production. It should be a shoot out this week vs. Houston. Jacksonville will be forced to throw the ball to keep up.
44) Bobby Wade – KAN – WR
Kansas City has been in search of a second WR to compliment Bowe since day one of camp. Mark Bradley has disappointed and Amani Toomer did not fair any better. Wade looked good in week two action and may play his way into a consistent producer for the Chief’s offense.
45) Nate Washington – TEN – WR
Washington returned from injury and had a mediocre day landing 4 catches for 36 yards, but found the end-zone.
46) Donnie Avery – STL – WR
Avery struggled in week two and found his WR1 role taken by teammate Laurent Robinson.
47) Patrick Crayton – DAL – WR
Crayton’s impressive week one performance was due more to an incredibly bad Tampa secondary than individual talent.
48) Laveranues Coles – CIN – WR
The Bengals paid big money to bring Coles to town. So far, their return on investment has been poor. His name and reputation are the only things keeping him from falling off this list. Bench him until he proves he’s ready to start playing.
49) Antwaan Randle El – WAS – WR
The Redskin offense continues to stall and was lucky to pull one out vs. a pathetic Rams team. Randle El remains one of their only bright spots. He service as a desperate WR3 play especially in leagues that reward for return yards.
50) Mark Clayton – BAL – WR
After an impressive week 1, Clayton returned to his old ways and almost disappeared from the box score pulling down only one catch for 20 yards. He’s a risk to start from week to week. Leave him on your bench.
51) Justin Gage – TEN – WR
Gage saw his targets compromised with Nate Washington’s return to the field. If Revis is on him – I would expect little-to-nothing this week.
52) Chris Henry – CIN – WR
After a pre-season hype train, Henry has been non-existent in the Cincy passing attack. He’s losing time in 3-receiver sets to Andre Caldwell. He be targeted in the red-zone, but consistent fantasy play can’t be expected.
53) Davone Bess – MIA – WR
Bess let down in week 2 as Ted Ginn dominated targets and touches.
54) Isaac Bruce – SFO – WR
Bruce lead the San Fran WRs for a second straight week. The passing game has struggled and Josh Morgan continues to disappoint. Expect a handful of catches for 40-50 yards.
55) Earl Bennett – CHI – WR
After dominating targets in week 1, Bennett finds his job in jeapordy heading into week 3. Jonny Knox should begin to see major playing time. Bennett may not even be on this list come next week.
