We are all fans of football. Week in and week out we cheer for our home teams, but being a fantasy fan is a little different. Teams that you would never pay attention to, now have you flicking back and forth from your hometown squad, in search of fantasy highlights. Players that you did not even know existed, you now know their name, number, stats, hometown, favorite food, zodiac sign, hobbies etc… You spend just as much time watching the silly ticker at the bottom of the screen as you do the game that’s playing.
As fantasy owners you learn to wear the two hats of being a home town supporter, and also a ruthless fantasy GM. We have all had that uncomfortable feeling when one of our fantasy studs is going up against our home team. The best case scenario is that your player goes off, but your home team still wins. It is like placing a bet on the favorite and the under. You want your team to score in order to cover the spread, just not too much to go over the under. Every play that your fantasy player makes, you silently celebrate inside. You feel joy and shame all in the same emotion. When it comes down to it, we all would tell our families and friends that: “I’d rather my home team win than my fantasy team”. You say it with such conviction. You may say it to yourself enough times that you actually believe it. But us here at fantasy football brothers know what you’re really thinking. It’s OK. We won’t judge you. We actually commend you. You’re showing how much this really means to you. You are disgusting! You are a SICK ADDICT….. and so are we. This shows us that you are ready… ready to join the Brotherhood.
