Pierre ThomasIt’s Monday again and here at Fantasy Football Brothers we will take a look at the players that helped or hurt your fantasy team. There are some notable players who layed eggs in Week 3 and there are some players who stepped up and separated themselves from the competition. As always there were frustrating inactives and injuries to major fantasy players. Let’s take a look back at the week that was Week 3.

HITS

RB-Pierre Thomas-Thomas showed he was healthy in a big way and this was a statement game for the Saint’s as they told teams they can run the ball and they can run it well. Thomas had 14 carries for 126 yards and 2 TD’s means this team is running on all cylinders.

QB-Jason Campbell-He put up big yardage numbers against a mediocre defense and 2 TD’s. He is better than alot of QB’s on fantasy rosters right now.

WR-Santana Moss-Put up huge numbers this week(10 rec., 178 yards, 1TD), just what his fantasy owners’ needed out of him this week.

WR-Bryant Johnson-Finally showing people he can be a number two in this league and warranting his high NFL draft status. Nice compliment to Calvin Johnson in Detroit.

QB-Aaron Rodgers-This is what fantasy owners expected out of him when they drafted him. Three total TD’s is nice.

WR-Donald Driver-He is consistent and underappreciated in the fantasy realm and he had a very good week this week.( 4 rec., 95 yards and 1 TD)

TE-Daniel Fells-Who? What? Two TD’s? He just might be playing Randy McMichael right out of a job.

TE-Vernon Davis-Maybe this guy will finally realize his potential and produce? Fantasy owners have been waiting long enough for this(7rec.,96 yards, 2 TD’s), hopefully it’s not a one week thing.

QB-Brett Favre-He went over 300 yards and had 2 TD’s, if you are searching for a QB he could be the guy.

WR-Sidney Rice-He is a beast and hopefully he continues to click with Brett Favre. Week 3 is a nice start.

RB-Fred Taylor-He might be playing himself out of a time-share and into a full time gig. Fantasy owners have to take notice as he carried the ball 21 times for an average of 5.0 yards per carry finishing the day with 105 yards and 1 TD.

WR-Randy Moss-He had 10 receptions for 116 yards and was targeted 16 times. He has shown he is Tom Brady’s favorite target in the passing game with Wes Welker out.

QB-Mark Sanchez-He had three total TD’s against the Titans’ and showed he just might be for real. If this guy is sitting on the waivers, go get him, if you are in a dynasty league, go get him now.

WR-Jerricho Cotchery-He has developed a nice rapport with Mark Sanchez and is one of the more consistent fantasy producers for wideouts. His week 3 numbers of 8 rec., 108 yards. and 1 TD will keep him there.

QB-Kevin Kolb-This guy is a fantasy comet as he has put up huge numbers the last two weeks. I would say go pick him up, my only concern is when Donovan McNabb comes back, what do they do with him?

RB-LeSean McCoy-He showed you the future is now, the Eagle’s offense doesn’t miss a beat when he is in there.

WR-DeSean Jackson-He came in questionable with a groin and gave fantasy owners no questions about starting him with 6 rec., 149 yards and 1 TD.

TE-Brent Celek-The Fantasy Football Brothers super sleeper of the last two years has produced (8 rec., 104 yards and 1 TD) and we would like to say we told you so, but we won’t.

RB-Brandon Jacobs-Jacob’s owners have to be relieved as he finally had a good week against Tampa Bay.

RB-Ahmad Bradshaw-Bradshaw owners have to wonder what this guy would do with more carries, he went for 104 yards on 14 carries for 7.4 yards per carry, that is sick.

WR-Steve Smith-He will be the more consistent option than Mario Manningham and he showed it this week.

QB-Joe Flacco-He has become a weekly play and has put up huge yardage numbers week in and week out, this week he went for 342 yards.

RB-Willis McGahee-He continues to be the surprise of fantasy football and Ray Rice’s kryptonite. He went for two TD’s this week and his overall TD numbers are off the charts as he already has five.

RB-Ray Rice-Fantasy owners are glad he got into the end zone, if he didn’t it would have been a disappointing week for him.

WR-Derrick Mason-He is the most consistent wideout the Raven’s have and has developed a nice rapport with Joe Flacco as he was targeted eight times and went for 5 rec., 118 yards and 1 TD this week.

RB-Maurice Jones-Drew-Those people who said he can’t handle a full work load were wrong, dead wrong, this guy just cemented himself as the definite number two behind Peterson and could make a strong case for number one overall.

QB-Matt Schaub-The concerns about him are fading as he had his second big game in a row and went for 300 yards again.

WR-Kevin Walter-He is finally healthy and is a nice compliment to Andre Johnson. Those owners who were patient with him until he got healthy were rewarded this week with 7 rec., 96 yards and 1 TD.

QB-Jay Cutler-He had three TD’s in week 3, but the more telling stat is one INT, maybe he is finally maturing as a QB.

WR-Devin Hester-He is a big play waiting to happen and big plays happened with him this week.

TE-Greg Olsen-He was labeled a fantasy bust three weeks into the season and he showed otherwise this week as he caught a TD and also caught five passes for 44 yards.

RB-Julius Jones-He saved his fantasy day by getting a receiving TD. Quietly he has become one of the more consistent weekly plays in fantasy football.

WR-Nate Burleson-He was targeted 12 times this week and caught 9 balls for 109 yards, makes a great number two or three receiver for your fantasy team.

RB-Willie Parker-Another runner who saved his week by getting a reception TD. He is still a better option than Rashard Mendenhall will be.

RB-Cedric Benson-He is quietly producing and is one of the better options at running back in fantasy football. He has provided fantasy owners with great value this year.

WR-Andre Caldwell-He is separating himself from Chris Henry for the number three receiver role, he was targeted nine times this week and went for a touchdown.

WR-Brandon Marshall-Looked more comortable in this offense this week as he looks to bounce back to fantasy relevancy.

WR-Vincent Jackson-He has shown he is a top fantasy option and by the end of this year he could vault himself into the top 5 WR’s in fantasy football.

QB-Philip Rivers-He went for over 300 yards and saved his day by rushing for a TD. He also had 0 INT’s in 33 pass attempts.

QB-Peyton Manning-Wow! That’s all I have to say about his performance. (379 yards and 4 TD’s)

WR-Reggie Wayne-He is the most consistent fantasy wideout and can make a case as the best receiver in football.

WR-Pierre Garcon-Those owners that picked him up off the waiver wire were rewarded with a solid game.

TE-Dallas Clark-Peyton Manning’s security blanket had a nice game in week 3 with 7 receptions for 62 yards and 1 TD. He was targeted nine times.

WR-Anquan Boldin-He was targeted 11 times and went for 6 receptions, 83 yards and 1 TD.

WR-Steve Breaston-He showed he is finally healthy and produced at last year’s levels, owner’s who drafted him were rewarded and he makes a solid number three receiver.

MISSES

RB-Clinton Portis-His health is a concern(bone spurs in both ankles) and fantasy owners that started him were burned.

RB-Kevin Smith-He had great yardage numbers (101), but to not get in the endzone hurt his overall value this week.

WR-Calvin Johnson-Johnson had 5 receptions for 49 yards and 0 TD’s, this does not make a number one wideout.

WR-Greg Jennings-He had high yardage numbers (103), but with only two receptions and 0 TD’s his production hurt many teams.

RB-Ryan Grant-He went for 99 yards and didn’t get a touchdown, hopefully this isn’t a repeat of last year’s TD numbers of 4.

RB-Steven Jackson-The guy is a fantasy beast and had a solid week running and receiving, but the lack of TD’s is concerning and the team he plays on is horrible.

WR-Laurent Robinson-Fantasy Football’s hot waiver wire pickup put up two catches for 26 yards and left the game injured.

RB-Frank Gore-He left the game after one carry and alot of fantasy teams hopes just went down the drain.

RB-Glen Coffee-Fantasy owners rejoiced when Gore went down, but look further and his 2.2 yards per carry is of concern.

RB-Adrian Peterson-This is not what fantasy owners expected when they selected him number one overall.( 85 yards and 0 TD’s)

WR-Roddy White-Disappointing numbers( 4 rec. and 24 yards) for a guy that was expected to blowup this year.

RB-Laurence Maroney-He continues to disappoint and might be out of a job soon due to his continued injuries.

QB-Tom Brady-He frustrated alot of owner’s this week with his low completion percentage, he overthrew alot of receivers and should have gone over 300 yards and 2 TD’s.

QB-Matt Ryan-Many thought he would torch a depleted Patriot’s defense, but he struggled throughout the day and didn’t throw a single TD pass.

RB-Michael Turner-The same as Matt Ryan, many expected he would have a big day, but rushing for 56 yards is disappointing, although he did get into the endzone.

RB-Chris Johnson-After last week’s performance many had unrealistic expectations against a tough Jet’s defense. He did rush for 97 yards, but no TD’s hurt his value.

RB-Thomas Jones-He had 14 carries for 20 yards, which is 1.4 yards per carry…YIKES.

TE-Dustin Keller-He was virtually non-existant in the passing game.( 2 rec., 24 yards and 0 TD’s)

RB-Larry Johnson-He had 19 carries for 38 yards, which is 2.0 yards per carry….YIKES…he might be done and will be a disappointment to fantasy owners who thought he would have a bounceback season.

TE-Kevin Boss-He was everyone’s favorite to produce due to Eli Manning’s lack of receivers, now it seems he is lost in the mix.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Anyone that plays for this team should not have any fantasy value at all, they are horrible.

Cleveland Browns-See statement above and the same can be said for this team.

RB-Ray Rice-The only thing preventing his breakout to fantasy stardom is Willis McGahee, be patient fantasy owner’s and it will happen soon.

RB-Steve Slaton-Okay, I am officially concerned about the production he might give me for the rest of the season.

WR-Andre Johnson-How does this guy only catch four balls and no TD’s when Matt Schaub goes for 300 yards? I don’t know, but he should be catching six to seven balls a game.

RB-Matt Forte-See above statement under Steve Slaton and apply it here.

WR-T.J. Houshmandzadeh-He was targeted nine times, but only caught four balls, that is not a very good catch rate.

RB-Justin Forsett-Fantasy owners who plucked him off the waiver wire now know why he was there to begin with.

QB-Drew Brees-After two weeks of gaudy numbers he gives us this (172 yards, 0 TD’s).

WR-Marques Colston-If he wants to be a number one receiver he needs to start playing like one, 4 receptions for 67 yards with a long of 32 is not number one receiver material.

Buffalo Bills-If you had anyone on Buffalo you were frustrated all day.

WR-Santonio Holmes-He had 1 reception for 18 yards…REALLY?

WR-Chad Ochocinco-He is more hype than production, I just wish he would get in the endzone more. Look further and he had 11 targets and only 5 catches, not a very good catch percentage.

WR-Chris Henry-May soon become a fantasy afterthought and a what if in the NFL?

RB’s-Correll Buckhalter and Knowshon Moreno-All they did was muddle this RB situation more by both having big games. I’m glad I don’t own any of these guys.

Oakland Raiders-They might be the worst team in the NFL and their young superstars are not producing at all. Darren McFadden had three fumbles and JaMarcus Russell owes Todd McShay alot of money for hyping him before the draft.

RB-Ronnie Brown-Good overall numbers, but not getting into the endzone hurt his overall value this week.

WR-Ted Ginn Jr.-He didn’t catch a ball this week and was targeted six times. After last week many thought he was on his way to becoming the receiver many thought he would become.

RB-Darren Sproles-He didn’t steal the spotlight when it was his to take with LaDainian Tomlinson out.

WR-Chris Chambers-He will soon be waiver wire material if he isn’t already.

Arizona Cardinals RB’s-No one has stepped up in this group and they all looked awul this week.

WR-Larry Fitzgerald-He was targeted 13 times and only caught 7 balls, not a good catch percentage, add that to the fact that he didn’t visit the endzone and you are left with disappointment from the best receiver in the game.
