With the preseason underway and players getting acclimated to playing in the NFL we have been able to get a small idea of what we might expect out of this years rookie class. With the overall success of last years rookie quarter backs Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco, this years class enters the NFL with very high expectations. The fact is that maybe only one will offer any type of fantasy value this year. The learning curve for the position is just to steep. The exciting thing about this class is that three were drafted in hopes of becoming franchise quarter backs. If history is any indication, and it usually is, two out of the three will flame out and never reach there potential or lofty expectations that come with the position. Whats even more exciting is that one will probably emerge faster than anyone of us ever thought. That's... read more

Larry Fitzgerald is gracing the cover of nearly every fantasy publication this season. His ridiculous playoff performances have rightfully given him the national attention he deserves. He is the consensus number one wide receiver on nearly every expert’s draft boards, including ours. But if it’s me on the clock and I have the opportunity at the 1st wide-out off the board, I’m selecting Andre Johnson. Too many factors need to be accounted for in the Cardinal’s success. Larry Fitzgerald’s continued dominance will depend heavily on Warner’s health. The majority publications have Fitz sitting atop their wide-out lists, but then rank Kurt Warner outside their top 5 and some towards the bottom of the their top 10 QB ranks. Matt Leinart is not Kurt Warner, and if forced into the starters role he will fail to put up Warner-like numbers. With Leinart under-center you can expect a drop off of 250 yards... read more

In last week's article Fantasy Football Brothers covered the winners and losers from Week 1 of the pre-season. While some players have continued their winning ways and moved up draft boards for example Bengal's WR Chris Henry. While other players have failed to make an impact that will get them on the roster or move them up their team's respected depth charts. The most important thing to remember however is that it's only the pre-season. Your fantasy team doesn't live and die this time of year. A player's value should not be solely judged on exhibition games. Just because RB Tyrell Sutton of Green Bay has 140 rushing yards, please do not overvalue him come draft day and slot him ahead of RB Ryan Grant and RB Brandon Jackson. The point of this article is to remind fantasy owners that they should be watching for the small things and not necessarily stat watching, save that for the... read more

There is a great deal of uncertainty with defenses in the NFL. There are many factors that can affect a team's defense, such as the revolving door that is the NFL coaching carousel. It takes time for a coach to implement a new system and for the players to learn it. Another factor that goes hand-in-hand with coaching changes is free agency. A team or unit can struggle when a veteran leaves and someone is learning on the job, more than likely a rookie. The other factors are simply age and injuries and one only has to think of the San Diego defense with or without OLB Shawne Merriman, it's simply night and day. One can also look at the 2007 Patriots who were fantasy football's second highest point getter in '07 behind San Diego. Last season the Patriots completely fell off the fantasy radar defensively. You can cite examples... read more

Fantasy Football Brothers continues to put their readers in the best position to win. We answer every fantasy question you ask. We continue our FREE DRAFT KIT roll out with RB tiers. Having positions in tiers is a very useful drafting tool. This allows owners to put the running back position into some perspective. Tiering a position assigns a group of players a draft value which can be very handy. This is a great guide for recognizing undervalued players. Using a tiering system can also compose a rattled owner that could start to panic if a position run happens, the tier system gives a player's overall value some perspective. The simple sheet basically preaches patience so that you don't reach for overvalued players. This is the list that can make an owner look like a genius: An owner becomes a genius when not reaching on a player they targeted but actually grabbed... read more

Fantasy Football Brothers conducted their latest fantasy mock draft on Tuesday night. With the season flying up on us I'd thought I'd breakdown our latest F.F.B. Mock Draft, with Trends, Best Picks, and Suspect Picks. In the middle of the draft we have our draft board that breaks down each owners' picks and the commentary resumes after. This league being a half a Point Per Reception league so Wide Receivers taken early and often throughout the draft. Add in the fact that each team must start 3 Wide Receivers and 1 TE, led to this being a WR heavy draft, and teams sleeping on Tight Ends once the top 5 were all selected. Owners also had a tough time knowing which Running Back was getting what job, and how many carries, so far fewer Rbs were taken during the draft, and there were barely any fliers taken. Here's the League Scoring and Roster... read more

Every fantasy football owner knows they need to have a plan in order to have a successful season. The problem is that there's no blue print to make the perfect plan. The unforeseen happens in football every year. We usually don't plan for injuries but we should. Injuries are a part of the game and they are going to occur. Out of all the positions, running backs are the most susceptible to the injury bug. When you invest a high draft pick on a running back you should make sure you draft his backup or handcuff. The term handcuff is used because it allows owners to attach themselves to a top draft picks backup. It’s an insurance policy on your stud running back. We need insurance on our cars, houses and lives, why not our fantasy football players? I’m a fan of locking down a teams back field. This is especially... read more
There is a common misconception amongst football fans that O-lines need a star left tackle or a bunch of Pro Bowlers to be great. Simply put that theorys' wrong, take for example the big uglies of the New York Giants. Last year the Giants boasted a pair of 1,000 yard rushers in Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward. The last time that was done was the 1985 Cleveland Browns with Kevin Mack and Earnest Byner. What makes this even more impressive is that today's NFL is so different from the NFL in 1985, with faster, bigger players and more intricate defensive schemes. One common factor in ranking the offensive lines is how long the unit has been working together, two to three years appears to be the offensive line theory, not any different than the third year wide receiver theory which states a receiver will breakout their third year in the NFL.... read more

Reports out of Minnesota today are that QB Brett Favre will afterall sign with the Minnesota Vikings. The deal is reportedly a two year deal for $25 million dollars pending Favre passing a physical. It was also reported that Favre has a tear in his rotator cuff, so the Vikings are taking a huge gamble, considering notable doctors stated it could "flare up" after 50-60 throws, which is why he might have been trying to avoid training camp. Favre stated he felt the Jets and Eric Mangini worked him too hard last year in camp and that was why he was battling injuries late last year. The injuries which ultimately doomed the Jets at the end of the year as he threw nine interceptions in the last five games. The Vikings are hoping that Brett Favre will bring energy, leadership and toughness to the team, they are also hoping he makes them a... read more
