Fantasy Football Brothers rolls out their 3rd mailbag in as many days yes I know its not 3 days in a row. I meant business days in a row, it was a busy weekend here, the staff had 9 drafts in the last two days, thats a lot of drafts, but is there anything better? The best part is some leagues grade the drafts immediately after the draft, which makes for pretty funny conversation. You have the owners who love their teams. (those teams usually bomb) Owners who hate their teams(Owners end up with a surprisingly decent team in the end) When grades are handed out, and the other staff can attest to this. Any team given the best grade is usually the kiss of death. Try it out sometime, and see if our theory works out. The season is around the corner, and drafts are going on everywhere, at... read more

Fantasy Football Brothers delves into their annual Rookie Running Back Report. Yes it is only our second year, but if I do say so myself I think I nailed it last year. That leads me to this year. I have struggled with this assignment this year. There are no show stoppers, or speed merchants or even can't miss products. There are no Forte's, Chris Johnson's or even Slaton's, or McFadden's. Last year was an aberration statistically with all of the high performing RBs. The rookie backs were what they always were before last year, average, some really good, but most not ready for prime time. So for everything that goes up, something must come down. Despite the NFL moving to the gut wrenching R.B.B.C. and making it even easier for a RB to hit the thousand yard mark which for anyone that cares is only 62.5 yards a game, I hate... read more

I am absolutely giddy about the next two weeks! This is the time of year that most leagues should be hosting there drafts. One of my favorite parts of any draft is taking fliers on players in the later rounds. There isn’t a better feeling than striking gold on a late round flier. This list was created as a tool to help you strike gold on draft day.  You should print this out and slip into the middle of your draft kit. Pull it out and study it while doing your duty on the throne. Familiarize yourself with the names on this list. Some players ranked will simply be players who are being overvalued or undervalued on draft day. Some of the guys will be late round fliers who could prove to be the difference for your fantasy team. We do things a little different with our sleepers and busts.... read more

Here at FantasyFootballBrothers we have been swamped as of late rolling out Free Draft Kits, updating ranks and all that great stuff. I know we have been promising a mailbag for months now. That's my bad, but as a way to make it up to everyone, We will have back-to-back Mailbags. Just a warning to all, I have not edited the writing, or grammar. JP from the internet asks: Hi, I am a "newbie" when it comes to fantasy football, and any advice would be greatly appreciated on my up-coming draft(Aug.29th). I am number (7) in the draft order, and we do use a serpentine draft system. Ok, I'm in a 12-team league with 16 rounds of drafting. We start 8 players and have 8 in reserve. We need to draft the following positions total. 2 Quarterbacks 4 Running-backs 6 WRs(Up to 2 TEs can be used in this section) 2 DEFs 2 Kickers Our scoring system is as... read more

Fantasy Football Brothers Mailbag Part 2

Posted by Bill in Fantasy Advice on Aug 27th 2009 and last modified on Aug 28th 2009. (Print This)

The Fantasy Football Brothers Mailbag continues today with Part Two and a few more great questions . We have been getting all sorts of questions about player ranks, trade offers, and draft strategies. We will try and get out as many mailbags between now and the start of the Fantasy Football Season. As usual I'm not going to edit the spelling, or grammar. DO YOU HAVE A QUESTION FOR US? ASK US RIGHT HERE. Corey Asks: Will Rb Steve Slaton be a better Fantasy running back than RB's LaDainian Tomlinson, Frank Gore and Steven Jackson this season? Rob Thanks for the question, Steven Jackson has the most talent and upside out of all these backs, yes he is an injury risk, but his talent outweighs those concerns. Jackson will be a monster in PPR leagues as the Rams offense will run through him. In order, we like Jackson, Steve Slaton, LT, and Frank Gore.... read more

The RBBC (Running Back By Committee) has changed the game. The extinction of the every-down back and the formulation of specialists, ie: third down, goal-line, between the 20's runners - has led to the plummeting of thoroughbred talent. There are some true work-horses left, but unless you have a top-5 pick, you are not likely to land one. Wide receivers have penetrated the first round. Elite wide-outs provide better fantasy value than the questionable runners toward the end of round one. If you pass on drafting a back with your first and even your second round picks, here are some RB2's that could produce RB1 stats in ‘09. Kevin Smith There were concerns around Smith being able to hold up to the physicality of the pro game after a carry-heavy senior season in college, but Smith appeared to get stronger as his rookie season went on. Smith progressed while his team regressed and... read more

Thomas Jones pieced together his best year as a pro and finished fifth among RBs in fantasy scoring last season. So what’s with his sudden stock drop heading into ‘09? I’ll tell you... Jones improved from a measly 2 touchdown ‘07 campaign, exploding for 15 scores in ‘08. Drafting Jones on his last years numbers would be foolish. He’s heading into a contract year and held out of initial workouts in efforts to iron out something this season. Jones quickly saw that he had little bargaining power for the Jets had already drafted his replacement in Shonn Greene. Shonn Greene is a power runner who can move a pile. He won the Doak Walker Award as College’s best back. He was an absolute beast in his senior season at Iowa rushing for 1,850 yards and 20 TDs. He should see immediate playing time and steal goal-line duties. In keeper leagues, Greene offers... read more

DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart combined to be the best running back duo in all of football last season. D.Will came out of no where to lead all running backs in fantasy scoring as he ripped off over 1,600 total yards and 20 touchdowns. Extraordinary seasons lead to extraordinary expectations, but fantasy nation appeared to be in synchrony believing that deja vu would not happen in ‘09. Off-season speculation had DeAngelo’s stock falling and Stewart’s stock rising as a more even distribution of carries was expected. Stewart quietly tallied up 10 TD’s in his rookie campaign. His smashing style (235lbs) is more tailor-made for goal-line duties and double-digit scores were once again in sight for ‘09. He was a break out waiting to happen. But Stewart has experienced continued struggles with an Achilles’ strain. The Charlotte Observer reports Stewart commenting "It’s a nagging injury.". "Nagging" and "Injury" are two words you... read more
