Draft Day Philosophy / Quarterbacks

The Fantasy Football quarterback position has become more and more important to the success of your Fantasy Franchise. Up until recently where you drafted your  quarterback was merely an afterthought. Now fantasy QB's are finally getting their due. Fantasy owners have begun to realize that you can build a decent team, but a teams success is often tied to a great fantasy signal caller. The fact is that they often outscore every other position regardless of your leagues scoring system.  Someone like Peyton Manning can often carry your team through the regular season and deep into the playoffs.  It happens every year, yet every year most owners will wait to the middle rounds to draft one.  Simple math suggests that it makes more sense to draft an elite signal caller in the first round than it does a running back.  The problem is we’ve all been brain washed to believe that you can’t have a successful team if you pass... read more

2009 QB Draft Kit Projections/Rankings

The importance of the quarterback position is becoming more and more relevant each year in fantasy football.  With quarterbacks often out scoring every other position, owners are starting to take notice and build their teams around the quarterback position.  We have moved away from the two back draft philosophy and have seen first hand how effective and lethal an elite quarterback can be.  Come draft day I know I'm walking away with at least two above average QB's.  The thought was that in a 10,12 or 14 team draft you could sit and wait for your QB.  In theory it works, your basic economy lesson of supply and demand.  You only start one quarterback and there are 32 NFL teams.  So at the very least you could have two QB's  from subpar teams.  You then focus all your attention on stock piling running backs and wideouts, only to have your teams... read more

Appreciation with sports seems to come with time. Old timers call them "the good old days". I find myself jealous when I hear old friends and family members reminiscing about sports greats who have gone down in history as mythical characters. I was born in 1980 and was fortunate enough to catch the tail end of Larry Bird’s career. I remember rocking Air Jordan's as a kid, and when the slam dunk contest was filled with all-stars. But I didn’t have the appreciation for sports that I do now. Sports now-a-days is different. Despite a recent resurrection in basketball, the sport has fallen into negative stereotypes, and a playground style of ball. Hockey has fallen out of favor and can no longer be considered one of the three major sports (sorry hockey fans). And then there’s "America’s Sport".- What a joke! How can you call baseball a sport when you basically buy... read more

Stock Rising Jonathan Stewart - CAR - RB Stewart is much more than an insurance policy and should prove to be a high-end RB3 play. He quietly scored 10 touchdowns last season and rebounded well from off season injury. Carolina will continue to rely heavily on the run, despite resigning Delhomme to a long term deal - BAD MOVE. The two headed monster split goal-line work... read more

Owners will be faced throughout the season with decisions that can make or break their team, but the biggest question that needs to be answered might be on draft day. The Running back and Wide Receiver positions are by far the toughest positions to evaluate this year. The dreaded Running Back By Committee has effectively killed the drafting of back to back running backs. The position has been decimated by splitting carries 50-50, having a running back... read more

Fantasy Focus AFC South-Running Backs

Posted by Paul in Fantasy Advice on Jul 13th 2009 and last modified on Jul 14th 2009. (Print This)

This week the Brotherhood takes a tour through the AFC South to get a closer look at each teams running back situation.  The South hosts some of this years most exciting and promising young backs.  With three backs being ranked in the top 12 and one former elite prospect, it should be interesting to see where these guys fall on draft day.  I created this list because of the increased importance regarding the running back situations around the league.  With more teams employing a two back system, knowing each teams depth and what should be expected of each player is more important than ever. JAGUARS* 1) Maurice Jones-Drew - JAC - RB HT: 5'7  WT: 206  AGE: 24 Jones-Drew is one of the most dynamic running backs in the NFL. I'll be the first to admit that I have a man crush on the 5'7 bowling ball. MJD can do it all, and he... read more

Fantasy Football Brothers' College Draft kit concludes today with our TE/Pk/DEF/ST edition. Check back early and often next week as we will begin to roll out our FREE DRAFT KIT. The tight ends in college fantasy football are led by Jermaine Gresham of Oklahoma who flirted with the NFL Draft last year.
