1) Adrian Peterson – MIN – RB
The clear cut number one!

2) Maurice Jones-Drew – JAC – RB
Finally a shot at being an every down back.

3) Matt Forte – CHI – RB
An all purpose guy on a team with questionable receivers.

4) Michael Turner – ATL – RB
High workload in 08 has Turner on injury watch. Stat that may surprise – Turner only had 6 catches in 08.

5) Chris Johnson – TEN – RB
He’s so fast he ran his way into the top five. LenDale’s carries get compromised.

6) Steven Jackson – STL – RB
If healthy could be a beast… “IF Healthy” the important part in that sentence.

7) Steve Slaton – HOU – RB
Will be hard to have a repeat performance of 08. The Texans did little to back him up, or take away goal-line carries.

8) LaDainian Tomlinson – SDC – RB
Return of the King? Not ready to jump ship just yet.

9) DeAngelo Williams – CAR – RB
Will produce in a run-first offense. But Stewart is hard to keep off the field. Don’t expect last years 20TD’s and you shouldn’t be disappointed.

10) Frank Gore – SFO – RB
I’ve traded for Gore the last two seasons and have been disappointed. His production has gone down since an impressive 06. Could Glen Coffee take goal-line looks? Regardless, Gore should have a good year.

11) Brian Westbrook – PHI – RB
It’s bad when we’re checking the Eagles injury report in May, But when he plays there is no one can hurt you in so many ways. Shady McCoy’s handcuff status is on the rise

12) Clinton Portis – WAS – RB
A true work horse. I feel like I’ve been watching Portis for years, but he’s only 28 coming into the season. The skins will rely heavily on him, but injury is a concern.

13) Brandon Jacobs – NYG – RB
No Derrick Ward – Increase in carries – increase in injury risk. Regardless he’s a beast, and will prove to be so in 09.

14) Marion Barber – DAL – RB
The Barbarian falling to 14? I still like the guy and I think he’s got great value at this spot, but Felix “the razorback” Jones is too talented to keep on the side line. A three headed monster of Barber, Jones, and Choice could be implemented. MBIII should still be the closer and handle all the short yard looks.

15) Ronnie Brown – MIA – RB
Brown should begin to bounce Ricky Williams out of an RBBC. Brown should be totally healed from ACL injury and be poised to have an impressive 09.

16) Pierre Thomas – NOR – RB
If we had a magazine – this guy may grace the cover. Sleeper in a high octane offense.

17) Kevin Smith – DET – RB
Smith quietly had a great rookie season. No one knew because he was in Detroit. Watch out for Maurice Morris who was brought into town. But Smith should be running the show.

18) Ryan Grant – GRE – RB
Good, not great. Not a star by any means, but should produce for the Pack.

19) Derrick Ward – TAM – RB
Should beat out Graham for the starting role. Tampa’s offense is a good fit for the ex-Giant.

20) Marshawn Lynch – BUF – RB
Suspension rumors have Lynch’s stock falling. Fred Jackson is chomping at his toes to get more time.

21) Joseph Addai – IND – RB
Speaking of stock drop – Addai is like ENRON! Addai played better when in a committee. Look for Donald Brown to get a good amount of looks, but Addia could be a nice “buy low” guy.

22) Thomas Jones – NYJ – RB
Not clear on where T. Jones will fall. After an incredible 08, the Jets brought in Shonn Greene to compete. Keep an eye on camp to see how this back field settles.

23) Chris Wells – ARI – RB
My pick for rookie of the year. Spread offense – can’t afford to stack the box. Watch out!

24) Knowshon Moreno – DEN – RB
A future star in the league. McDaniels continues to lose weapons. He’ll make the most of this one.

25) Darren McFadden – OAK – RB
“The Dark Knight” looks to take the headlining role for the Raiders backfield after an injury plagued rookie start.

26) Larry Johnson – KAN – RB
Don’t call it a comeback! But LJ could be a nice sleeper this year.

27) Willie Parker – PIT – RB
Fast Willie is slowing down, and Mendenhall is on his tail.

28) Jonathan Stewart – CAR – RB
Stewart quietly scored 10 TD’s last year.

29) LenDale White – TEN – RB
Slim, Trim, and in a contract year. Hate vultures!

30) Reggie Bush – NOR – RB
Jump this guy up in a PPR for he is truly a wide receiver that can run the ball.

31) Felix Jones – DAL – RB
I can’t wait to see Dallas’ version of the Wildcat called the “RazorBack”.

32) Donald Brown – IND – RB
Should split carries with Addai.

33) Ray Rice – BAL – RB
09 Bargain Buy. McClain will still get goal-line looks, but Rice should start to phase McGahee out.

34) Cedric Benson – CIN – RB
Should retain 1st and 2cnd downs, but Bernard Scott is a super sleeper who could surprise.

35) Shonn Greene – NYJ – RB
Could be a TD machine for the Jets. If Jones’ contract problems don’t smooth out, Greene could be in for a BIG rookie season.`

36) Jamal Lewis – CLE – RB
Steady vet on the decline. Jerome Harrison could finally make his push. James Davis also in the wings.

37) Julius Jones – SEA – RB
Duckett kills his value at the goal line.

38) Darren Sproles – SDC – RB
Super fast talent with a harder running style than his stature puts on.

39) Rashard Mendenhall – PIT – RB
Will challenge Willie P for time.

40) Fred Jackson – BUF – RB
The length of Lynch’s suspension will determine how much time Jackson has to get in and impress the coaching staff.

41) Leon Washington – NYJ – RB
Mr. Versatility. Jets will look to get the ball in his hands in many different looks.

42) Jamaal Charles – KAN – RB
If LJ acts up, Charles will become more than a 3rd down back.

43) LeRon McClain – BAL – RB
Although going back to more of a fullback role – McClain should get the goal-line work.

44) Ahmad Bradshaw – NYG – RB
Is he still in the dog house?

45) Earnest Graham – TAM – RB
Will play 2cnd fiddle to Ward, but still worth a look.

46) Chester Taylor – MIN – RB
The number one handcuff in the game – would be starting somewhere else.

47) Fred Taylor – NEP – RB
Welcome to New England… and congrats on your first Super Bowl!

48) Willis McGahee – BAL – RB
Fallin out of favor.

49) LeSean McCoy – PHI – RB
Not if Westbrook gets injured – when he gets injured.

50) Tim Hightower – ARI – RB
Will lose starting job to Wells, but could still hold onto some goal-line looks.

51) Sammy Morris – NEP – RB
52) Ricky Williams – MIA – RB
53) Jerious Norwood – ATL – RB
54) Laurence Maroney – NEP – RB
55) Michael Bush – OAK – RB
56) Dominic Rhodes – BUF – RB
57) Justin Fargas – OAK – RB
58) Correll Buckhalter – DEN – RB
59) Tashard Choice – DAL – RB
60) Mewelde Moore – PIT – RB
61) Maurice Morris – DET – RB
62) T.J. Duckett – SEA – RB
63) Jerome Harrison – CLE – RB
64) Rashad Jennings – JAC – RB
65) Bernard Scott – CIN – RB
66) Glenn Coffee – SFO – RB
67) Kenneth Darby – STL – RB
68) Garrett Wolfe – CHI – RB
69) James Davis – CLE – RB
70) Mike Bell – NOR – RB
71) Kevin Jones – CHI – RB
