Return of the King? Fantasy Profile: LaDainian Tomlinson

Posted by in Fantasy Advice on Jun 29th 2009 and last modified on Jul 3rd 2009. (Print This)

The noose has been tied... The court yard is full. After two seasons of unmet expectations, his once loyal servants are ready to be done with their fallen king of fantasy nation. I’ve seen Tomlinson’s name on both "Bust" and "Sleeper" lists heading into the 09 season. Given his recent struggles, most are inclined to put him on the "Bust" list. But lets not be so fast to behead our former King. Many frustrated owners who have drafted LDT #1 the last two years are ready to throw in the towel, but I am not. In 2008, LDT finished 5th overall in fantasy points scored by a running back (standard scoring formats) - outscoring the likes of MJD, Steve Slaton, Steven Jackson, Chris Johnson, Frank Gore, Marion Barber, Brandon Jacobs, Brian Westbrook, and Clinton Portis - And we’re all over the guy. A let down? For him - Yeah! For... read more

Your June QB Rankings

Posted by in Fantasy Advice,Quarterbacks,Ranks on Jun 28th 2009 and last modified on Jul 1st 2009. (Print This)

1) Drew Brees - NOR - QB 5069 yards and 34 touchdowns passes make Brees the #1 QB on my draft board. 2) Tom Brady - NEP - QB Call me crazy but I think Brady could throw another 45-50 touchdowns. Could be a stretch but I wouldn't bet against it. 3) Peyton Manning - IND - QB Call him Mr. Consistent. You can bank on 4000 yards and 30 touchdowns. 4) Kurt Warner - ARI - QB Warner has the best WR trio in football with Fitzgerald, Boldin and Breaston. If that's not enough the Cards used a first round pick on ultra talented running back Chris Wells. Only thing that scares me about Warner is his age. Can he hold up to the NFL grind at 38? 5) Philip Rivers - SDC - QB At 27, Rivers looks to be coming into his own. He tied Brees with 34 touchdown passes... read more

2009 Touchdown Vultures

Posted by in Fantasy Advice on Jun 24th 2009 and last modified on Jun 28th 2009. (Print This)

Like it or not the touchdown vultures are here to stay in the NFL. The game has become more specialized and running the ball in from 5 yards on out has become a specialty. I can think of some guys who have made careers out of being touchdown vultures, like Mike Alstott. Jerome Bettis towards the end of his career also comes to mind. The modern goal line backs are sometimes hard to find, but the ones that are there every year are easy to identify, think T.J. Duckett, who has made a career out of other people’s scraps. A touchdown vulture will help you in your draft and make excellent bye week replacements, if these guys scamper one inch for a touchdown, they can net you 6 points. Julius Jones could rush 15 times for 60 yards and get you 6 points, see the upside? So without further ado,... read more

The Latest and Greatest: Wide Out Ranks

Posted by in Fantasy Advice,Wide Receivers on Jun 23rd 2009 and last modified on Jun 25th 2009. (Print This)

Latest Wide Receiver Ranks. Stay tuned for our FREE DRAFT KIT dropping soon. Welcome to the Brotherhood! 1) Andre Johnson - HOU - WR Andre just beats out Fitz to top our list.   2) Larry Fitzgerald - ARI - WR Zona should be more balanced. Boldin back healthy will steal targets, but regardless Fitz is a beast. Current ADP have him a round one lock.  3) Randy Moss - NEP - WR Brady-to-Moss. Just look at 07 stats to see how high this ceiling is.   4) Calvin Johnson - DET - WR MEGATRON - Transform! Dominated 08 despite horrible supporting cast, no QB, and being triple covered.   5) Steve Smith - CAR - WR Hate Delhomme! But he does get Smitty the ball. Led league in 100 yard games despite missing 2 games with suspension.   6) Reggie Wayne - IND - WR Only 6 TD's as Peyton's number one in 08?   7) Anquan Boldin - ARI - WR If healthier would have finished the year @... read more

1) Adrian Peterson - MIN - RB The clear cut number one!   2) Maurice Jones-Drew - JAC - RB Finally a shot at being an every down back.   3) Matt Forte - CHI - RB An all purpose guy on a team with questionable receivers.   4) Michael Turner - ATL - RB High workload in 08 has Turner on injury watch. Stat that may surprise - Turner only had 6 catches in 08.   5) Chris Johnson - TEN - RB He's so fast he ran his way into the top five. LenDale's carries get compromised.   6) Steven Jackson - STL - RB If healthy could be a beast... "IF Healthy" the important part in that sentence.   7) Steve Slaton - HOU - RB Will be hard to have a repeat performance of 08. The Texans did little to back him up, or take away goal-line carries.   8) LaDainian Tomlinson - SDC - RB Return of the King? Not ready to jump ship just yet.   9) DeAngelo... read more

Comeback Candidates

Every year fantasy owners search high and low for player rankings.  We love to rank players!   We scour through anything we can get our hands on to determine where we should rank and draft players.   Then we count on these rankings to guide us to fantasy glory.  But what do we do when the rankings are wrong?  I'll tell you what we do.  We use last years rankings to find players who are going to be undervalued on draft day. For one reason or another these players failed to meet fantasy expectations last year.  Injuries, suspensions, difficult schedules or just a lack of consistent play contributed to their overall disappointing seasons.   Now...I don't have a crystal ball, but what I do have is time...maybe too much time.  So what I did was take last years fantasy rankings from 25 expert sources to compile a list of players that... read more

Rookie Wide Out Report

Posted by in Fantasy Advice on Jun 17th 2009 and last modified on Jun 20th 2009. (Print This)

Welcome to Fantasy Football Brothers. Our goal is to answer all of your fantasy related questions quickly.  Whether it is a lineup, waiver, trade, injury, or drafting question we will answer all questions or comments.  We cover everything because we know you don't have the time to.  If you want to win your league set up shop with us. Don't forget we are FREE! Michael Crabtree: Crabtree is an elite talent who will gradually climb fantasy ranks in the years to come. Being drafted by San Francisco has its positives and negatives. It has been drilled into fantasy culture: "don't draft rookie receivers!". The virgin seasons of Eddie Royal , Desean Jackson, and even Donnie Avery have us questioning what has been thought to be fantasy law. The so called "3 year learning curve" philosophy has come into question. But buyer beware for there are still the James Hardy's, the Limas Sweed's and the... read more

This is our last RB rank until we release our Free Draft Kit, yeah you read that right Free!  Mini-Camps began all over the N.F.L. this week. Injured players are trying to get ready for the long grind of a 16 game season. Position battles are going on all over the NFL, roles are being established, and defined. New looks and wrinkles are being added to offenses. Fantasy owners are left to make assumptions of every story that comes out of the NFL, or you can let us do it for you.  Welcome to Fantasy Brothers..... Ranks based on a Standard Scoring league 1) Adrian Peterson - MIN - RB Still Number one, but recent A.D.P. numbers suggest 1A 2) Matt Forte - CHI - RB Forte offers more value in a P.P.R. league, but has continued to climb up the A.D.P. ranks 3) Michael Turner - ATL - RB Drafters every where do not seemed concerned... read more

Often times the question will come up, "Why do you play fantasy sports?" The usual response from me is that it is fun. I don’t feel the need to go into long detail with them about how great draft night is, or how good it feels to take a chance on a "sleeper" that actually turns into a fantasy stud. I might tell them that you can win money, but then again if you were paid by the hour for the time you put into your fantasy teams, I’m sure it would equate to about 3 cents an hour. The competitiveness of being in a league with friends and the satisfaction one feels when they've won their league cannot be underestimated, call it a cliche, call it what you want, I call it PRIDE. Like Herm Edwards once said, "You play to win the game." The term "fantasy geek" or "fantasy... read more

The Baltimore backfield experienced a lot of traffic in the 08 season, with LeRon McClain, Willis McGahee, and rookie Ray Rice all sharing carries. No one player solidified his role as "the man" leading to frustration amongst fantasy owners everywhere. Surprisingly enough it was the over-sized McClain that turned heads and became an out of the blue fantasy contributor. But McClain’s time as a running back may be over. McClain has been reported to have shown up to Baltimore workouts 10 pounds heavier, reinforcing rumors of his transition... read more
