Matt Cassel will be headed to Kansas City in a deal that will bring himself along with Mike Vrabel to the Chiefs for a 2nd round pick(34th overall). I would say that Scott Pioli got a "thank you for your years of service" deal in this. The Chiefs have nothing to lose and a great deal to gain. A second rounder for a franchise quarterback and a linebacker that has two to three years left of productivity. The Chiefs know what they got in Cassel, so let's break down the main piece of the deal. Cassel was 11-5 on the season last year, he went from almost being cut in the pre-season(outperformed by Kevin O’Connell) to being one of the most reliable starters in football. This is a guy who backed up Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart his whole college career, the same guy who was moved to tight end for... read more

Free agency started with a bang on Friday when Albert Haynesworth signed with the Washington Redskins for $100 million dollars 7 years. Bart Scott left the Ravens for the greener pastures of the N.Y. Jets a six year $48 million dollar contract. There were a lot of moves on the defensive side of the ball today but today Fantasy Brothers is concerned with the offensive side of the ball. Questions or comments contact us. Kellen Winslow TE Bucs Winslow was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for undisclosed draft picks. The 6'4" 250 lbs. TE only played ten games last season and played injured throughout the season. Hauling in 43 passes for 428 yards and 3 td's was impressive on a dismal Browns team. Winslow now has a new team and a fresh start. Despite the Bucs having questions at QB the passing offense will run through one of the most productive... read more

1. Brandon Jacobs/ Derick Ward The New York football Giants have reportedly come to terms with stud running back Brandon Jacobs. The deal is worth up to 25 million over 4 years. Good for Jacobs and good for the Giants. Jacobs is one of the most unique backs in football, he posses a rear blend of speed and power we don't often see in a 265 pound back.  This deal all but spells the end of Derick Wards time as a Giant and propells Jacobs into the top 10 of fantasy backs.  Jacobs ADP (average draft position) was between the late 3rd and mid 4th round in twelve team standard leagues last year. He will be running behind one of the best O-lines in the game for the foreseeable future making his value as a keeper as high as it's ever been. Now Jacobs just needs to stay healthy throughout the... read more
Wide open - WR report 2009 1. Boldin Beyond the point of no return? With all the Larry Fitz attention as of late, people seem to have forgotten how dominant Boldin's first 10 games were. There was not a more physical receiver in the league with a blood hounds sense of smell for the goal line. Does he stay a cardinal? Possible destinations? I'd love to see him in an Eagle uniform... That is if McNabb stays in Phili (that's a whole other write up - see d12 QB's). Does Warner stay? (again - see d12 QB's). Impact on Fitz if he leaves? Lots of questions surrounding the pass happy Cards for next season. 2. Housh. Another multi-faceted dilemma. Housh made lemonade with lemons (ryan Fitzpatrick), but where does the reception machine end up in 09. Palmers return? Can Ocho come back to form? If the stars align, Cincy could have promise - then... read more

The RB offseason lowdown 1. LDT-S.D. Does the consensus former number one pick ever return to high first round draftibility? Or does he go the way of Shaun Alexander and fall into Fantasy obscurity? 2. DeAngelo Williams-Car. Does DeAngelo's breakthrough year warrant drafting him in the top five in standard league formats? 3. Derrick Ward-NYG Is the other half of the super smash brothers running back tandem going to resign with the Giants or become this years Michael Turner? Or does the clock strike midnight for this Cinderfella wannabe? 4. Larry Johnson-K.C. Does the disgruntled injury prone bruiser get his wish and get his walking papers? Or does the 27 year old resurrect his career with the new regime? 5. Joseph Addai-Indianapolis Will Addai justify his ADP or will he continue to disappoint fantasy owners with his inconsistent week to week play and spotty health. 6. Pierre Thomas-N.O. Does Thomas take over as the every down back for the high octane Saints'... read more

The low down on the Quarterbacks heading into the off-season 1. Kurt Warner-Arizona Warner had a stellar comeback year he was the second highest scoring QB in standard formats. Warner is an Unrestricted Free Agent heading into this off-season, he is currently taking the off-season to contemplate his potential retirement. 2. Tom Brady- New England Will Tom Brady return to pre-injury form, and put together another stellar season? Will he tie the knot and end his bachelor days ask Tiger if is its a good move? 3. Matt Cassell - New England Where will Cassell end up? Ride the pine behind Brady? Would Tampa, Detriot, K.C., Jets, Minnesota, San Francisco,Seattle gamble their future away and trade a couple of high draft picks for a one year wonder? 4. Donovan F. McNabb- Philadelphia Will Philadelphia try and continue to win with McNabb or trade him for draft picks and start the Kevin Kolb error? 5. Matt Hasselback- Seattle The Boston College... read more

The 2009 NFL Draft is getting close, and with the combine on February 18th, more questions will be answered, such as "Just how fast is Michael Crabtree?" While we expect more players to rise and fall with forty and shuttle times, along with bench press reps and vertical measurements, we do expect the picture to become a little less blurry as teams start to focus in on needs, as seven of the first ten teams are in a rebuilding phase. Remember there are "sexy" picks and there are needs, ask Matt Millen what a "sexy" pick is and he will say it is why he doesn't have a job. 1.) Detroit-Jason Smith, OT, Baylor-Smith moves into the top spot as he has the athleticism and the quick feet to take on NFL pass rushers. He is a converted tight end who is ahead of the curve on his run blocking as well as... read more

The 2009 NFL Draft is full of questions, what draft isn't, and many of these players will not be the answers teams are searching for. I'm sure we can all list our fair share of busts. Some of this year's questions are: Is Mark Sanchez a top QB? Why didn't Brandon Spikes declare? Is Michael Crabtree the real deal or just another big, slow receiver. ( Think J.J. Stokes, Mike Williams, Dwayne Jarrett, etc.) These are just a few of many questions as we head into the 2009 draft. 1.)Â Detroit-Andre Smith, OT, Alabama-Smith is a once in a decade lineman, an Ogden, a Pace, a nice building block for a team in rebuilding mode. A good fit with a young back like Kevin Smith. Quarterback can wait another year or later in the draft, no one said rebuilding is pretty. 2.)Â St. Louis-Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia-Pace is near the end of... read more
